Probably some of the ones in my assorted lockups that haven't needed to be
filled with fuel for up to 15 years in one case.

Unfortunately the 3L (3L per 100km) was never sold by VW in the UK only on the
continent. It averaged over 100mpg on a 3129km trip round Europe.

Define fuel efficient. Taking into account payload, or running empty? And
at what speed?

as far as I'm concerned it's the car that does the best things with its
fuel.

Which would make the most fuel efficient car in the UK probably Petter
Solbergs' Impreza.
