VW TDI 130 & 150 BHP question by DCA
Anyone tell me the failure rates for these lumps? Are VW having any self destruct? Are they going the 250,000 the lower 90/110 power models boast Opinions please - on reliability (MAF aside!). I already know they are economical and are amazingly progressive :-) Thanks David

mk4 Golf TDi - drivers door - interior light activator switch not working by Mike NG
Just come in, passengers door will operate the interior light, but the drivers door has stopped doing the same. Also, the red light on the interior door panel and the lights on warning buzzer (pretty essential when the dark days will soon be upon us) I know it's all related to the same thing. I thought in most cars there was a little button, that could possibly be stuck, but I can't find...

MAF Help!! by Paul Edwards
Hi All I have just bought a new MAF for my Passat PD115 as the car seems to have very sluggish acceleration especially around 2200 to 2400 rpm. I put the new one in and ran her down the road. WOW what a difference. The car accelerates much faster than it did before and seems more responsive however... A low speeds with the accelerator only slightly depressed the car is very

Third Brake Light - Wiring by Matt Welcer
Hi All, Just got myself a Generic Third brake light, the manufacturer is Hella. I am trying to install it into a Golf 3 build year 1993. I am trying to 'wire' this thing in but i'm not having much luck, so i was hoping someone might be able to help out. The install instructions aren't much use as its a generic third brake light, however i do have the Haynes Manual.

Whilst stuck in traffic I discovered that... by Paul Edwards
If you hold down the Auto button on the climate control and then press Econ (whilst still holding down Auto), the display changes to deg F. If you then hold down the Econ button and press Auto the display changes back to deg C. Also, the display on the dashboard changes at the same time. Probably useless information but apparently you can make the climate display road speed and other data.

Vacuumhoses on VW Golf Mk. 2 by Thomas Rasmussen
Hi out there I have a VW Golf mk2 from 1984 with automatic transmission, and I have some problems with it when the engine is cold. The idle speed is OK, but the power available is near 0 once I set it into gear. It almost can't even drag the car up to speed before the engine is warmed up. Once it is running at normal temperature there are no such problems. My mechanic guy has had a look at it,...

Passat tyre wear by Prof Rollerball
I posted on here before about front tyre wear on my Passat 1.9Tdi estate. After 22,000 the outer 'shoulders' of the Michelin energy XT2's are wearing down. I wondered if this wear was premature, but looking round the net this looks pretty reasonable, especially considering the extra weight of the diesel engine. So I'm going to retire (no pun intended) these tyres to the rear, where I hope...

No Cat results by VW Golf Cart
What would be the result of not having a Catalytic Converter? More exhaust odor? Less Fuel economy? Mine was gutted from previous owner and I haven't had the money to replace. What would be a good/cheap solution to replacing it without having to spend huge amounts of $$ at the dealership. A universal Cat? Used cat from similar car? Thanks,

01 Jetta Odometer Scrambling by Nedeltcho Vladimirov
I have an eye on one 01 Jetta VR6 that have suspiciously low miles. My question is: Is it possible the odometer to be scrambled? I mean it is electronic and it can not be rewind, I know, but is there any other ways now to turn it back? Or may be to stop the reading for an year or so and then again to be fixed. Does any one know how can I check that? Please replay to this post or e-mail me to...
