Volkswagen Polo 1.4 by
Emrys Davies
My daughter has a Volkswagen 1.4 Polo, 1997 model.
She says that when someone replaced her battery he did not keep the
ignition switched on and that this has caused the remote control fob to
be ineffective.
Is this a fact and if so how can the matter be rectified?
Thanks,
Emrys Davies.

MK2 GTi Drivers Seat - repair options? by
Doki
The driver's seat in my MK2 GTi is looking pretty shabby and feeling pretty
poor too (padding seems to have disintegrated). Only on the bolsters you rub
against every time you get in and out though.
Does anyone sell replacement sections of the seats or offer a decent
recovering service? I'd prefer to just the the bits that need doing done in
the right colour than have to have the whole interior...

Golf Injector Pump Filter by
Pilgarlick
Hello All
Can anyone inform me of the correct technique for drainage of condensate
from the injector pump pre-filter bowl on a Mk4 Golf SDI. I've had a feel
around the bottom of the filter bowl and can (almost) feel what I assume to
be a drain nipple but have no idea what type of implement may serve to undo
this, or the method of avoiding drenching the inner wing with water/ diesel
mix from...

Golf Mk5 idling issue by
Julia Mellor
I have just purchased a Golf Mk5 2.0 FSI in Perth Australia. The engine
shudders like it is misfiring when idling and I have been told by the dealer
this is because the engine management system runs the car lean as poss to
reduce emisssions. I am running it on 98 oct BP Ultimate which is the best
(and most expensive)fuel we have here. Has anyone else had or heard of this
problem?
Not happy I...

idle speed - too high? by
Angus Manwaring
The idle speed on my 1.8 CL Mk3 Golf is about 900 rpm, when the engine is
fully warmed up.
Is that a bit on the high side - and if so, would that have much effect on
fuel consumption?
Cheers - and a jolly good Christmas to you all. :)
All the best,

Variable Service problem - Advice on how to tackle the dealer. by
anthony james
Our imported Golf TDI 100PD was delivered on the variable/longlife
service regime.
It demanded a first service at just over 11000 miles and about
18months from dealer delivery in Europe/16 months from UK registration
which we were pretty happy about. Despite instructions to the dealer
to keep it on 'Longlife' and them saying they knew what they were
doing they delivered the car back with a '12...

2.0T FSI engine by
bill
my understanding is this new engine is highly tuneable like the previous
1.8T engine used in the mk4 golf, audi a3, s3 and tt
reports are that they will be putting in the new audi s3 with approx 260bhp,
are there any tuning companies able to get this sort of high output from the
engine yet? if say i purchase a Golf mk5 2.0 FSI (150bhp) can they up it to
260bhp

Seat Leon 1.4, no Haynes manual ! VW any ideas ? by
Michael Butler
Seasonal greetings everybody.
I would like to tap into your collective brains; I own a Seat Leon, 2001,
1.4 16v S, 5 door for the past 3 years, now it's just out of warrantee
and I would like to do the basic oil/plug change type service myself,
leaving the major stuff to the local garage. Over the last 30 years of car
ownership I've always done this with the aid, for what it's now worth, of...

Passat rear door handle - 2000 model by
Steve
Hi
I have a W reg passat and one of the rear door handles has a problem. the
small moulding to the rear of the moving handle has been loose for a while
and now it's come out. So the handle now pulls out too far and doesn't
always open the lock.
Has anyone had this before, do I need to replace the whole handle mechanism
or just get a new moulding stopper thingy.
thanks

The emission warning light on my Golf V5 came on this morning, no other
obvious problems, runs ok. I know it could be the Lambda Probe but wonder
what else maybe at fault and if anyone has any advice.
Thanks

Mk3 Golf TDI (90bhp) - can anyone recommend... by
JackH
....any particular brand of 'tuning box'?
I've been browsing ebay, and there seem to be several manufacturers on
there, all claiming to give around 30% more torque, and another 20bhp.
TIA

General VW Warranty question by

Paul Ockenden wrote:
The remaining time you have on your warranty is only

That's simply not true. Both parts of the warranty are valid at ANY
VW
dealer.

Dirt in my carb by
Splash9
I've a Mk1 golf Ryder 1.6, J reg... recently it's intermittently been
running rough. No power, engine threatening to stall, actually carrying
out that threat occasionally. The symptoms seem especially bad on hills
(presumably being under heavy load). I've changed the plugs, distributor
cap and leads. I've spoken nicely to it and cursed it too but nothing
seems to provide long term improvement.

VW Golf doesn't like puddles... by
James Field
Hi, I've got a VW Golf Mk3 GTi 2.0 8v that dies and refuses to start again
for at least half an hour if I go through a puddle and water splashes up
under the left hand side of the engine bay.
It appears to be an electrical problem, but I can't trace where the water is
getting in to the system. Any advice gratefully received.
Ta!
