Any MkV 2.0 tdi owners about? by Mark Hocking
If so, what are you opinions? Test drove one the other day & thought it was bloody brilliant. Thinking of getting this or the A3 with the same engine, but the Golf is nearly £3k cheaper & I have heard has a much better ride? TIA Mark

mk3 Golf Brakes by vw-stuff
Hi Got a 1997 gti 16v. Yesterday a metallic rubbing noise started from the offside front wheel during breaking. I presumed this was low pads but then noticed the sound continues slightly after releasing the brake pedal. Had a look at the brake last night and the outer pad is about 5-6mm thick. The inner pad is difficult to see because of the caliper but that appears to be very low. Should...

Electric windows in a golf question by Bodhran
Hi I've got a problem with the electric windows in a 1994 Golf 1.8GL. The front passenger window works ok using the switch on the front passenger door. The switch on the drivers door which works the front passenger window only puts the window up whether pressing the bottom or top of the button. The switch on the drivers door which works the drivers door window won't open the window but you can...

Something like audi quattro items? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category =10372&item=4558034610&rd=1 I would like somthing that pretty much bolts on although I don't mind a little modification since my dad has a pretty...

vr6 engine conversion by REMUS
Could anyone tell me what is involved in the engine exchange? Into a 1985 mk2 Golf 8v GTi I haven't had chance to google around yet for a guide. But I will spend more time on it tomorrow, since i've only just been offered the engine. I'm dreaming a bit since i'm still 19, but I figure even if the insurance is £2.5k I can just transfer the policies in-between cars, spending a month driving...

Fitting in-dash single cd player by David Chamberlin
I hope someone can help me! I've bought a second hand VW in-dash single CD player for my wife's 2003 Golf with Beta radio/cassette. I've fitted it OK, and plugged the blue connector into the back of the Beta unit. However, there is no power getting through to the CD, and the Beta unit reports 'No Changer' if I select the CD option. Am I missing something? There is a second socket on the back of...

More on my alarm problems. by Dave
Hi All Further to my original post. I have had a chance to look at the car further. The central locking and therefore alarm seem to be ignoring the key fob. But the 'unlock' and 'lock' buttons on the inside of the drivers door seem to operate the door locks. I tried opening and closing all of the doors as suggested. However, I found I could not unlock the boot at all. I tried various...

Golf gti 150bhp or 180bhp......differences and comments by vw-stuff
Hi I currently have a 97 mk3 golf gti 16v and am considering changing to a mk4 gti 1.8T. Visually, are there any differences between the 150bhp and the 180bhp gti's? The 150bhp is the same as my current car and the performance figures are also identical...although I guess being a turbo will produce more torque so do not have constantly red line the thing to get away from wanna be corsa's and...

Volkswagen Logic 600 alarm anyone? by Rob
Having solved the battery saga (thanks to all for your help), does anyone have a Volkswagen Logic 600 (998 VAG 607) - it's fitted to a mk3 98 Gold GTI 8v. I can't seem to find anything about it, and it has a problem. Total closure works fine, although it's got an irritating habit of arming (immoblising only) 30s after deactivating, there's no audible arming sound although the indicators...

Relay for MkII Golf GTI 1990 by Robbie
Hello, I have a GOLF GTI MKII 1990, the electrical systems seems to be having problems, the Rev counter ,fog lights, rear wiper and computer selector don't work (the clock on the multifunction display works fine). No fuses are blown in the main fuse box, however I'm unable to locate a relay that would cover all that lot.The picture of the relays in the Haynes manual isn't the one I have. Can...

Fitting a radio to a MK2 Golf by Doki
Divvy question I know, but how do I attach the back of the radio to the back of the dash? Undo the centre console and reach up, attaching the strap to the metal that's already riveted to the dash?

Golf Mk4 V6 4Motion - blown fuse by Simon Brotherton
Hello! My Golf Mk4 4Motion has recently blown the radiator fan fuse and I'm interested to find out if this is a fairly common thing on Mk4's. The bit that concerns me is that it blew a - what I can only describe as - 40A "Strap fuse" situated above the battery in the engine bay. It looks like it's the kind of fuse that really shouldn't be blowing in that it's not one of those little plastic...

t reg passat alarm problems by Dave
Hi My alarm suddenly started going off tonight for no apparent reason, happened several times. Tried resetting it with the key, but it didn't work. tried the ignition to find it turned sluggishly, so I assumed it was the battery, there was enough charge to start it and I took it for a run. When I got back I locked the door manually with the key turning twice to disable the alarm so it wouldn't...
