Servicing help by Sarah[_4_]
Hey fellas :) Fellas golfy is coming up to its 60k service. I'm going to be doing it myself as I want to. The cambelt was done at 32k so won't need touching this time *amen* I have misplaced my haynes somewhere. Kids probly thought it was a colouring book. I was just after some info on what is done on this service. So far my todo

Grubby cabrio hood and knackered seat, leading on to general musings on owning a Golf Cabrio by WolfWilf[_2_]
The fabric roof is getting decidedly grubby and a rather tenacious moss is spreading out under the rear window. Before I attack it with detergents, car shampoo or Agent Orange, can any of you helpful and knowledgeable people point me in a more appropriate or reassuring direction? Vehicle is a 2000 Golf Cabrio 2.0, Avantgarde spec in blue. And being a man of considerable substance, the...

sudden drop of RPM by WA
Hi My seat ibiza, which, i was told, is technically identical to VW polo, has sudden drops of RPM, about 1 sec, when the RPM goes down to 0. It happens at any speed, any RPM, shocking the car as the RPM goes up right after. It is a 1.4 gasoline 74kW engine. The dealer has read the engine reports many times but no hints in the car's computer. Any suggestions? Cheers WA

Passat battery goes flat if parked for 2-3 days by OpenX_UK
Hi I couldn't find a recent post on this problem so I will make a new post : ** My '98 Passat (1.8 20v estate) battery goes flat if left parked for 2-3 days. ** If I drive it every day - no problems. As soon as it is not driven the battery goes so flat it can barely light the dashboard lights.

how to tell if a car is suitable to run on vegetable oil? by Simon Finnigan
Hi all, I`m just wondering if there are any good sources for information on what cars run well with vegetable oil instead of/as well as diesel. I`ve had a look on Google and found plenty of sites that details the work that can be needed to run on 100% veg oil, but I`m looking more for information along the lines of "A VW Polo SDI runs happily on 25% veg oil and 75% diesel with no...

FAO Chris Bartram ? by Maxi[_2_]
Hi (sorry if I have the name wrong) Thanks for your post about the indicator problem. My news reader has lost the thread. You were spot on the money, a removal of the indicator stalk showed a lose connection. Today co-incidently the indicators stopped working again. I check the connection on the stalk again and was fine, so I moved along to the

mk4 golf indicator failure by Maxi[_2_]
mk4 golf 1.6s 16v 2001 Was driving along the motorway and flicked the indicator stalk left to move back to left lane and the indicator indicator once then turned itself off. Then I stopped at services and played with it to see what was wrong. I click it either way it flicks on once then turnes off sometimes a few clicks longer. But you can really feel it struggling to stay on (hope someone...

mk4 golf wiper blades question by Sarah[_4_]
A bit of a odd question but are the front wipers on the mk4 golf straight or curved ? they are 19 and 21 inches I think ? Just saw some on ebay a few pounds less than halfords and thought great but I asked thre seller and he said they're supposed to be straight not curved. But for some reason I have it in my head as the passenger side was curved ? Thanks

Golf Mk4 TDi Intermittent Blower by noodlesUK@gmail.com
Hi Apologies if asked before, couldn't find any info in a search. The air blower on my mk4 golf stopped working a few days ago. Switch was on full speed but no air circulation in the cabin. I've found that after leaving the car overnight, the blower will then function as normal in the morning, as if something resets itself overnight. Would appreciate any info on what could be at fault. Cheers

Source for info on "Rabbit" engines?? by a425couple
What are the best places (books or on-line) to increase my general knowledge of my VW Rabbit type engine? Background - I have raced cars (road racing SCCA type) for a fair time. I currently have in my +/- 1,000 pound race car an engine based on a VW (US = rabbit) 1.6 L diesel block, Head is marked with VW/Audi stamps "21" "WWO 1.6" "049.103.373B" "583780" - been lead to believe that confirms it...

Polo Sdi Air Bag Switch by Titus
Hello All I'm attempting to ascertain the feasibility of retro fitting an air bag on/ off switch to the vehicle specified above, in order to control the firing of the front passenger airbag. Has anyone done this on a DIY basis? Is such an item available for retro fitting? Presumably there must be some intervention required on the Vagcom front in order to pre-empt the disarming of the airbag...

Fitting cruise control to a Mk4. Risky???? by Charles 65
Hi there I'm thinking of getting a company to fit cruise control to my Golf MK4 SE Auto (which has the traditional throttle system, rather than the drive-by-wire). 1. If you've had this done, can you let me know please how it's working for you? Have you had any problems afterwards? 2. Has anyone had any dealings with the company that are going to fit
