Golf V Suspension/Steering Groan by Mr Me
Hi Just been out in my Golf V GT TDI and got lots of groans from the front left hand suspension when I turn either left or right. Called Volkswagen assistance, who then called the AA who then called some local breakdown company, the guy takes a two second look at it and says its dry suspension rubbers spray some WD40 on it, and it will go away. The car is only 10 weeks old and done a...

Exhaust blowing - where is the cat conv? by vw-stuff
Hi Got a 1997 Golf gti 16v. Going home last night the exhaust started blowing. Had a look under the car when home and it seems to be coming from the middle, probably just under the gear stick. There is a cone shape device around the area where it is blowing, is the cat converter or another silencer?

Clutch in Caravelle issue by Steve
Hi, I just bought a Carevelle and the clutch is hydraulic. Can anyone advise on how to adjust these? My mechanic has just finished removing 4 oil leaks but he says the clutch can't be adjusted. This makes no sense. Steve.

Golf Mk3 steering wheel scraping by Mr Premise
Hi all, When I've been driving for longer than about 2 hours, the steering wheel on my 97 mk3 Golf develops a strange scraping noise when I turn it. I've had this occur on my previous Golf, and had it fixed when I had it serviced once - the mechanic said it was just the horn contacts getting dry and scraping a bit. It's just had a full service, so I'm loathe to take it in to a garage to...

MK 2 Golf radio by Colin
Hi, Just been given a 15 year old golf. A fine machine... so far. The radio seems to be wired directly to the battery and not through the ignition switch. As this is now the twenty-first century I thought I might try and change this so that I didn't have to keep trying to remember to turn the radio off.. I was wondering if I could take a 'live' from the fan switch which is

Fluctuating engine temperature by jonriley2003@yahoo.co.uk
Hi all, I'm a proud owner of a Mk3 1.4cl Golf which has been trouble free up until now. It seems to run ok except the temp gauge keeps going up to 105/110; about 3/4 up the gauge which seems wrong. In addition, as the temp gauge rises, the hot air from the heater goes luke warm. When the engine temp drops back to normal again, the heater warms up again.....
