Fitting Rear brake pressure regulator.. by
Jon B
...on a mk2 GTI. Much of a job? Cars just failed MoT on that and a wiper
blade so I'm confident on one of the jobs at least ;)

quote from here

Anybody used them , if so , dear / cheap / ok / bad etc?

1.8 Turbo Coolant sensor Location ( after spell check!) by
Sukhi
My engine (2002 Passat 1.8 Turbo manual with 96k miles) light has recently
come on. Hooking the car up to
VAG-COM 409 indicates a fault with the coolant temperature sensor.
Can someone please tell me where about I can find it in the engine
and how hard is to replace ?
Thanks,
Sukhi

Golf Mk5 questions by
Slartibartfast
I am the proud owner of a new Mark V Golf. Very pleased with it so far, but
I have a couple of questions:
1) Inside the "Service Schedule" part of the Owners Manual, there is a
sticker. This has various bits of information such as Vehicle ID no, Engine
power, engine code, etc. The fourth section is for "Optional extras, PR
numbers", and has various codes such as 2B2, CM2 etc. (About 40...

Super unleaded question by
Avanti
I have been running my car on unleaded, however it can be run on
superunleaded, now I know it's more expensive, though i'm fantasy bargaining
that there may be an increase in performance dictating the need to use less
thorottle and hence more mpg.
Am i just dreaming?
ps my ca is not getting the mfrs claimed top speed, although I have covered
6000miles.

1.9TDi Flywheel broken - anyone have a similar experience by
SpamTrapSeeSig
02 Alhambra, 35k on clock, 5 months out of warranty.
The transmission specialist here says they've seen loads of them, but
mainly on taxis with punishing usage models.
This one's not been used like that at all (we had it from almost new -
it was the dealer's demonstrator for a couple of months, but did very
little mileage even then). To say I'm upset at Seat's point blank
refusal to accept...

Golf 1.9 GT TDi - 130 or 150 bhp? by
Pidgeonpost
Been looking at a couple of GT TDi Golfs lately. Seems to be plenty of
130bhp models around, fewer 150bhp models. According to Parkers guide the
fuel consumption isn't much different. Is there much difference in
performance on the road? I'm talking of everyday motoring rather than Jeremy
Clarkson stuff. I'm not looking for top speed - just plenty of grunt when
fully laden. Guess I should...

Air con for mk3 Golf by
barry.macloughlin4
Hello all, I live in South East London but am moving to Australia in about a
month and a half. I have now decided to take my golf but I am wondering how
easy and what the cheapest option would be if I were to get AC installed.
Any advice would be most appreciated.

Drawings / diagrams - Mk2 automatic by
Tod
Hi All,
Anyone know where I can see basic drawings and diagrams showing the
relationship between the automatic gearbox, the final drive and the starter
motor on a Mk2 Golf (1989/90) 1.6 litre? I still don't have a good mental
image of that part of the car (not having a ramp or pit).

Aerial by
Antony Gelberg
Bizarrely, my Mk2 Golf has an aerial on the roof, centred above the rear
seats, and an aerial (snapped) on the front wing. Which one was original?
Neither of them appear to be connected. You should hear the stereo
(rubbish).
I have decided that the one part of the car that is not remaining
original is the stereo. Stealth speakers are allowed, as is a decent
head unit (but preferably a...

Rubber seals by
Antony Gelberg
Can anyone tell me where I can get door seals for my Mk2 Golf? Have
looked on GSF, but no luck. Clearly this type of thing needs to be new.
I'm not going to fit old rubber.
Are they painful to fit?

Door height by
Antony Gelberg
Is it possible that the driver's door on my Mk2 Golf has dropped?
Sometimes when I close it, it needs a second effort, staying about half
a cm from closed. I assumed that this was the seal which is not in a
good way, but now I'm wondering if it's not the seal, as I don't think a
seal has enough resistance to stop it closing - it just gets crushed.
Is this a common problem and if so, what to...

Original stereo by

Can anyone give me the model of the original stereo fitted to a 1998
Golf GTi? I heard Blaupunkt Melbourne, but am not sure by any means.
And does anyone have one that they want to get rid of?
Wouldn't that be a VW 'Gamma' head unit? - they were made by a variety
of manufacturers to a VW spec and weren't available 'off the shelf'.

Black F-reg, 130K, 8v, 3 door, only mod is BBS alloys. £300. Hope it's
a good price. Here's my first thoughts/questions.
Sounds cheap enough
There's a slight burning smell that I think is coming from the rear of
the car, but can't be sure. Is this likely to be sticky hand or foot
brakes or wheel bearings? How can I diagnose more?

Still after a VAG-COM lead by
DCA
I'm still hoping for a decently priced VAG-COM lead rather that either an
overpriced one (£50+) or a dodgy one from the far East that'll damage eithe
rthe car or the laptop.
Anyone got one they want to sell? (second-hand)
Thanks
