I hate VW.. I really do. :-( by
JR Hartley
Dear all,
Please do yourselves a favour.. don't buy a VW Passat (especially a 51
reg)... you're just asking for multiple break ins...
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
If ONLY I knew this before hand.
After the first attempted break-in, VW UK insisted that the door lock on the

This is totally FREE and it ROCKS! by
Paul King
Hi,
I've just got to share this with everyone.
It's totally free and a real life-changer! It's not every day that a guy who earns millions every year on the internet decides to tell anyone who's interested exactly how he does it.
One things for sure, this is going to upset a heck of a lot of so called "gurus" when they find out that their money spinning secrets are being exposed. This site...

Sharan air-bags by
Dave Hall
On the recent thread about small drivers, I found this additional detail at the
weekend:-
European air-bags differ significantly from the USA; the USA ones are designed
to work as a replacement for the seat-belt as so many Americans drive without
wearing them, which means they are larger air-bags.
The driver airbag is only a chest bag, and smaller again than the passenger side
one.

Long term lay-up by
jeff dove
Any tips for when I have to lay-up my MKIV Golf Auto? I will be away for
four weeks in January 2006 and will have to leave the car exposed to the
elements. Should I disconnect the battery and if so what happens when I
reconnect,
Thanks

This is a real site. The way it works is this, you subscribe to the site,
accept a trial offer (for a couple of weeks) then get 5 mates to do the
same. Once all 5 have been accepted, you get your free iPod. As the trial
subscriptions are free for a few weeks, try them then cancel before you have
to pay.
Good luck, I hope your friend...

Tyre recommendation? by
WolfWilf
Good afternoon from this first time poster.
I'm looking for views about tyres for my Golf cabrio (2000). Tyre size is
205/45/16. It's sporting Pirellis at the moment, but local tyre shops keep
trying to steer me in the direction of strange names - specifically Ventas
(?), BF Goodrich, Fulva, Barum and something like Kumil or Kamil. All of
these are substantially cheaper than the more...

Tempreture Warning Indicator by
Steve
Can anyone help.
I drive a Mk IV VW Golf GTI (UK reg 2001)
Today for the first time whilst accelerating hard I saw my temperature gauge
rise from the usual 90 to 130 then the word 'stop' which I did. The temp
gauge reverted to its usual place at 90.
Happened a few hours later.

1991 POLO -OIL PROB by
richard
The oil from my polo is going down too quick yet there are no apparent
leaks. Upon taking my air filter cover off it is covered in fresh oil so I
gather this is where the oil is going. I am using 5/40 fully synthetic at
the moment. Have any of you any idea where the problem is?
Thanks Richard

Gear selection problem by
Rob
I've recently had problems putting the car into gear on my 1998 mk3 Golf
GTI, 102k.
It was serviced about 6 months ago and the mechanic thought the clutch
might be on the way out, but replaced the cable as a precaution/test. I
don't have a service history so I can't be sure if it's had a new clutch.
I've never noticed any problem until recently - the 'bite point' is
high, and the selction...

Sharan/Alhambra airbag disabling by
SpamTrapSeeSig
There's a note in the corner of our windscreen about disabling the
passenger side airbag for carrying babies in rearward-facing car seats,
but nothing in the owner's manual about how to do it.
My wife is petite, and thus at great risk from the steering wheel airbag
in the event of an accident. I'm more concerned about disabling that
than the passenger side, so it occurred to me - can this...

MK3 golf - gearbox linkage question by
vw-stuff
I think my golf (1997 gti 16v) could have a worn gearbox linkage. I have
been having difficulty selecting 1st gear recently and yesterday morning I
have difficulty selecting 5th.
My neighbour (who is a mechanic) says that the linkage is not a rod like on
most cars but operates on cables. Can anyone confirm if the symptoms
described above are symptoms of worn gear linkages. How much is a...

Polo 03 Sdi by
Pilgarlick
Hello All
The oil filter cap on my vehicle carries quite deeply indented flutes around
the periphery and also a hexagon at it's uppermost point. Is the hexagon
there for use by a socket or spanner or is it there merely to trip up the
unwary? Does it require a special spanner to release the filter?
I ask the question because I also have an 02 Golf for which I bought a "cap
socket spanner",...

2005 New Polo Diesel startup noise. by
mattsthompson@gmail.com
I've recently purchased a new Polo 1.4TDI 80PS. At startup, when the
ignition is turned to the first position, there's a faint noise audible
both inside and outside that sounds like a valve opening. Anyone able
to let me know what this is?

anyone want a corrado? by
Super Techie
Hi, I have a 91 G60 which decided to break yesterday. It looks like the
cylinder head gasket has gone.
The quote from the garage is a little high for my taste and I dont have the
means to repair it myself. The car is in reasonable condition, a few marks
on the paint and a litte rust patch but everything else is is full working
order.
I am just fishing to see if anyone would be interested in...
