Valuation, please by SteveH
After failing to attract any real interest in my Passat on ebay, I'm wondering if the group could shed any light on why it didn't sell. It's a 1.8T, in dark green, with 147k miles on it. VW history to 129k miles, then serviced at my local garage after that - cambelt done on 142k miles. Pics are he http://www.italiancar.co.uk/Passat

Mk4 SDi Golf by Pilgarlick
I own a vehicle of the type specified above, now just over 3 years old. A few weeks ago I noticed that there was a leak at the base of both front doors during rainstorms. The leaks seems to at the same point on both front doors and is at about the same point as a "tongue" of rubber which is attached to the main body of the door seal. The tongue stretches across almost the full thickness of...

Rear window replacement by Dave Hall
Heated rear window, so be careful not to flex the glass much or you will crack the electrical tracks. I would recommend you use a new seal, and cut the old off as already suggested. If there's bright metal trim in the rubber, it needs to be fitted in the new rubber seal before the whole lot is put in the hole, but there are various tools to feed in the polastic type. I don't think the...

Rear window replacement by Nathan Lucas
assuming it isn't a bonded screen... working inside the car, carefully push the rubber seal around the flange it sits on with a screwdriver. start in te middle at the top, ans slowly work along to each edge then down the side. when you've got to the bottom, start to gently push the screen at the top (get a mate to stand outside the car to steady the screen) when it's lifted a little way you...

GTi clocks by Jon B
Antony Gelberg wrote: I know that Mk2 Golfs came with 120, 140, and 160mph clocks. I also know that the 160mph was fitted to the Mk2 16V. Does anybody know whether the 120 or 140 was fitted to the Mk2 8v GTi? It's a 1988 if that makes any difference Early inc 88 8v GTIs came with a 120mph clock (Motometer) later ones (1989 on I think) came with a VDO 140mph...

2 litre golf timimg belt by Braveheart
I just put my 1995 2l cabriolet into a supposed VW garage to change the timing belt. Car was going perfectly until then, now won't pull it's way out off a wet paper bag. Drop in power almost certainly due to poor timing. Does anyone have pictures of the timing marks for this ABA engine.

Golf IV tdi : windows and interior light blown by req
Howdy, I'm kinda new to this, but have a small though nagging problem, maybe one or some of you good people could share your experience on it: While driving in my Golf IV Tdi, the plastic surround for the interior lighting fell off. Not something I am used to with this car, but no drama. Until I noticed the interior lighting, the windows, and that little red LED next to the door lock refuse...

Passat 1.8t - coil pack by Alho
Today felt as if engine was missing - felt rough. Called AA, diagnosed faulty coil pack on no 1 cylinder. Are they an easy DIY job to fit, and is it sensible to just fit one, or are the others likely to be near the end of their life. (As yet am not even to get through to my local stealer.)

2002 2Ltr Diesel Golf - funny noise while idle by JennyP
Owned car for 3 months from 1 previous owner. While the car is stationary at traffic lights etc and the air con or heater is on the engine vibrates loudly. When I move off it stops. It also stops if I turn the air con or heater off. It is not the idle valve I have just had that cleaned and re-set, any suggestions??

VW Polo Mrk2 Coupe Insurance Confusion by essexgirl
My insurer lists my 1988 coupe 'boulevard' (MH) as the VW Polo S . Its kinda annoyed me for over a year as i had endless telephone calls with them about it. My question is, is the polo S same category as mine? Considering theres a considerable power diffirence between both. ones 40kw and one is 55kw its quite frustrating. The initial phonecall when i questioned it was. I asked if my car is...

Sharan/Alhambra 02 Cluch bleed by SpamTrapSeeSig
Had a scary experience at the w/e when the brakes failed at a T junction. We recently had the flywheel/clutch replaced, and I suspect air got into the system during the process. I've pressure-bled the brakes and removed a number of air bubbles and flushed it with fresh fluid. Pig-of-a-job. Had to remove the top of the air box and the inlet hose before I could get to the reservoir...

Thinking of purchasing a Golf V6 4 motion. Anyone have any comments/reviews about this car. What is the true MPG on the road. Have read the paper figures but tend not to take much notice of these. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. TIA
