What would the MPG for a Golf GTi 2.0 be? by
NTL
Hi,
I posted a question, a week ago about common faults on a Golf GTi.
I managed to Buy one,
I filled my gas tank up, and my eyes were spinning, as the price was
spinning.
From total empty, it went up to £45.00.
How many MPG's should i expect, as an average?
Thanks ;-)

sat nav system by
AC
Have just purchased a golf gt tdi with sat nav. Salesman has told me that
the disk and manual couldn't be ordered until I purchased the car - he
borrowed a cd from another branch and says he will send mine when he
receives it to them instead of giving me the new disk. 2 weeks down the
line I still don't have the manual - he said they are on back order. Their
catalogue says that the sat...

VW Parts pictures /drawings by
Tod
Hi All,
Anyone know any websites where you can identify parts on drawings and get
part numbers? (Mk2 Golf, personally.)
There used to be a Russian site (www.elcats.ru/audivw/) which was quite
useful, even though it was in Russian, but it seems to have changed or gone
or moved since I last used it.

Overheating by
Sharkman
Hey all....
I have a Mk3 J plate Golf 1.8 cl, the engine was overheating in traffic
but not when driving normally. So I changed the thermo switch in the
radiator - no change! I then drained the system and changed the thermostat
and the water pump. After filling with water (thought i'd test with water
in case i had to re-drain if there were any leaks)the temp gets to 110 C
without the fan cutting...

Front brake shoe pad wear sensors by
SteveH
Kelvin Morgan wrote:
Am I correct to assume that front brake shoe pads wear out at the same rate
as rear shoe pads?
No. Rears wear *much* slower.
I ask as the owners manual states, that brake shoe pad wear sensors are
fitted to the fronts only.

VW Golf 2.0 GTi MK4 Rough Engine by
Sean Peacock
I have a 2003 Mk4 Golf GTi (2.0 8valve) that often sounds rough when
started. It sounds a bit like the exhaust is blowing and a bit like a
diesel. The exhaust has been checked and is fine. Two VW dealerships have
checked it and plugged it into the diagnostic machine and both have said
there is nothing wrong with it.
It is becoming quite annoying. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix...

o/t VR6 insurance by
John Thompson
Thought this may be of interest to some of you.
Had my renewal from Norwich Union Direct, full NCB protected Comp cover was
£527.
Went onto the Norwich Union website, same cover, same excess £261.
Cover for the VR6 now costs less than for our Citroen diesel !

Overheating Golf / dishonest VW service by
P. McCarthy
Hi,
I'd really appreciate any advice about getting refunded for unnecessary
work that has been performed by my local VW dealership. Also, if anyone
could help me isolate a cooling problem on my '96 Golf, that would be
very helpful. Bit of a long post, I'm afraid, so here goes:
My mk3 1.6 Golf had a nasty one-off overheating problem at the weekend.
I stopped at services during a long motorway...

Golf MK5 GTI by
vw-stuff
Would appreciate any comments on the mk5 gti.
Wife is considering getting one, currently I own a mk3 gti 16v.
7 seconds to 60 is not that quick for a 2.0 turbo charged car. Is the pace
through the gears more rewarding?

Polo Headlight Bulb Replacement (How?) by
Triple Jumper
Hi - a newbie question: my wife's 2003 1.4 Polo needs a new dip-beam bulb. The manual says take it to a dealer, which strikes me as absurd. Since I have a huge tool set (oo-err missus) I should be able to do this myself, but it was too dark last night to see exactly what I was up to.
I can pop off the rubbery cover and the electrical terminals, but what next? I think I saw some torx screws...

Golf Mk5 GTI by
Bill Again
I have heard that the Golf Mk5 GTI has an "engine sound amplifier" built in
that can be turned off or on. Under the bonnet one can see an extra fitting,
a square "tube" that runs from the front of the engine, along the side of
the block and then disappears into the bulk head. My colleague says that the
on/off "switch" is somewhere behind the glovebox.
The whole idea of the thing is,...
