What Amazon doesn't want you to know. by Margaret Shiels
Gentle uk.rec.cars.vw.watercooled reader, First, my apology for cross-posting to this NG. Be assured that this is a one-off. It will never happen again. My sole purpose is to draw your attention to what I believe are dubious practices by Amazon.co.uk. I also believe that at stake here is freedom of expression. Amazon have rejected my reader review of a novel by John McGahern. In

Clutch adjustment, Lupo 1.7 SDI by Brian
While attempting to replace the bolt on the torque arm on my daughter's Lupo last week, I noticed that the nuts on the end of the clutch cable were loose. There are two, and I assume they should normally be locked together. This evening she has complained that she finds it hard to change gear, but that there is also now a whine on overrun, paricularly in first and second. So two questions, is...

Engine swap suggestions? by Golf2
Hi, im consindering changing the engine in my mk2 Gti in May 2006 but cant decide which one to go for! It'll either be the 1.8T or the VR6. I think the newer, lighter 1.8T would be better. I'd appreciate your oppinions? Thanks.

Portable sat nav in Bora by John
Has anyone tried sat nav units with built in antenna such as Tom Tom and Navman in a 2002 Bora? Does the windscreen cut out signal and is an external antenna needed? Or are there spots on or near the windscreen where such units will work well? Thanks John

Water substitute for G12 by sonnysaguil@yahoo.com
I need some help please! My 1990 VW Polo over-heated last night, out of desperation I went to the engine and I looked for any container that is most likely being filled/top-uped with water. I saw this ball-shaped container... it was hot and steam came out from it and I thought that 'this is it' - the refilling tank. I put a water on it till the Max level. I after a while I checked the...

The petrol was very low, whether that is of any relevance, would it suck up rubbish ?

Wet Floor by will
I've got a problem in that the floor in the backseat area of my 1990 Mk2 Golf GL seems to get quite wet. Rather disturbing really! Not sure if it is due to driving in the recent rain we have been having (and therefore leaky floor), or if it is just condensation - warm car Vs cold outside. Any ideas on an easy way to check? I can't see an obvious way to take up the carpeting without cutting it...

Polo front brakes not releasing by Harv
Hoping one of the knowledgeable members of this group can give me a pointer with this one. My 2000 VW Polo front disc brakes are getting hot and squeaking badly a lot of the time. Have bled the system and all seems to bleed OK. Pads and discs have been replaced as they wore down to nothing, but the second set of pads has also worn down and am now on the third set.
