Front tracking data '99 Lupo please by Brian
Anyone know the figure for the front toe in/out on a '99 Lupo please. It was done earlier this year by a large local main agent, and the front tyres have since worn badly on both inside edges. They now have to be replaced, somewhat prematurely, so I want to check that the settings are correct. I will get the tracking set by the tyre place, but it doesn't hurt to double check. Tyres are not two a...

Mk 2 Golf juddering. Please help. by Colin
Hi, Over the last few weeks I seem to have developed a small problem with my 1990 Golf (petrol 1600). When cold the choke operates fine, car starts straight away, but after about 100 yards the car seems to be very juddery and looses power. (Similar effect to when one of the plug leads is arcing out.) After some miles (15?) the car seems to behave perfectly.

Hi, I drive a Passat -98 (variant v6 syncro) which started to set the brake fluid and ABS warnings lights on. It started first with brake fluid and after couple of week the orange ABS light was simulaneously turned on also. Sometimes I can drive couple of km's before the lights come on and sometimes they are activated directly when starting. They are also sometimes turned off when driving just to...

It's time to terminate the accounts of people who abuse the usenet to insite violent & race hate That person has been posting extremely racist posts all over the newsgroups & I thing it is disgusting that he still has an account. remote locking device - 1999 jetta by Jack
I just bought an early 1999 Jetta TDI. Among other snags, the two remote locking devices are intermittent on the locking button. Yesterday we tried both, they did not function, then locked it with the key. No horn beep on this exercise. Walked away to chat with a VW mechanic- a couple of minutes later, the car beeped. He said that was the locking mechanism doing its thing; he hadn't run into...

Gearbox repair costs. by Brian
Well, drained the gearbox oil as mentioned in a post a few days ago, several chewd up rollers came out too. I am near Chertsey, J11, M25. Does anyone know a reliable gearbox repair man in this area, and also has anyone any rough idea what the bill might be? I do realise that it's all guesswork until the full extent of the damage can be seen. Brian.

What Amazon doesn't want you to know. by Margaret Shiels
Gentle uk.rec.cars.vw.watercooled reader, First, my apology for cross-posting to this NG. Be assured that this is a one-off. It will never happen again. My sole purpose is to draw your attention to what I believe are dubious practices by Amazon.co.uk. I also believe that at stake here is freedom of expression. Amazon have rejected my reader review of a novel by John McGahern. In
