Best way to purchase by
M.John[_2_]
I am purchasing a second Hand VW T4 next week and would like some advice on
the best method to complete the transaction. Bankers Drafts don't seem to
offer an advantages, difficult to pay cash these days (due to money
laundering laws). Shopuld I pay by cheque and get the seller to sign over V5
at that stage then pick keys up on clearance.
Any advice gratefully recieved.
Thanks in advance

MK2 Jetta: Digifant II ECU no power at pin 1 by
Jerry[_2_]
Hello,
I have a 92 Jetta (1.8 Gas 8v Digifant 2) that has died on me. Brief
history...this used to be an automatic but 2 years ago I switched it over to
a 5 spd manual.
Symptoms...will turn over and gets spark but no power to the fuel pump nor
injectors. I have tested everything...the fuel pump is good (bridged
terminals at both the fuel pump relay and at the digifant 2 ECU connector,
and...

Fuel Consumption Polo Diesel Match by
Rosie[_2_]
Hello All
I have a Polo, 2008 model, fitted with the 70PS (51kw) 3 cylinder diesel
engine and recently carried out a fuel consumption check, gaining some
results that surprised me.
Has anyone done similar checks, preferably for steady motorway driving at
around the legal maximum? I would be very interested in hearing the results
obtained during a practical test, rather than the urban,...

Polo Head Gasket by
andy-k
I'm making a rather timid attempt at the head gasket on my 1998 Polo 1.4.
I know the obvious advice would be to get a Haynes manual, but it's bank
holiday and I'd like to see how far I can get during the holiday period.
So far I've removed the cam cover and the timing belt cover.
Hey -- it's a start :-)
From here on in it looks like trying to find my way across country without a
route map -- cam...

MIL resets and fault code scanning minor fixing by
Peter smith
I've been into VAG cars for about 8/9 years now and was thinking I spent
so much money on diagnostics as a hobbyist and thought about starting a
low cost diagnostic service and possible fixing of the problem depending
what it is.
I remember when I bought my first VAG car and had nothing diagnostic
wise and took it to a specialist who charged me £60 to clear fault code
of the engine...

Jetta: CR or PD by
Sam Salt
My wife has just bought a used Jetta 2.0 SE TDI first registered in
September 2008.It has engine code BKD.
Does anyone know if this is a CR engine or a PD as I have been given
conflicting information at the dealers.
Thanks,

Is it a good idea to use a jet cleaner additive in the fuel.
I have done so for years in a 1992 BMW!
Thanks

Ignition Lead problems '97 2.5 Transporter by
richard pierce
The ignition leads have failed every 15-20k miles on this vehicle (including
the first time when it was a day or two out of warranty!
Problem was solved at 60k by the installation of solid copper leads, but
these were replaced with original eqpt. during the 125k service (unnoticed
by me), as the mechanic wanted to rectify the radio interference!
now at 140k, and it has happened again. is...

Golf Mk4 53 reg rear spring broken by

Golf Mk4 '53 reg rear spring broken.
Date: 5-April-2009
Had a bit of a strange grinding noise from the back end for the last couple
of weeks after a recent visit to a VW garage to replace the rear brake pads
and disks. They said the rear springs were rusted as well.
Just took a look and found the right rear spring broken.
Googled for "Broken spring" and found that Ford cars are having a...

VW breaker recommendation? by
WolfWilf[_2_]
Good afternoon all. Nice to see the sun out and had the roof down on the
Golf Cabrio for the first time - first time in comfort, anyway - this year.
Anyway, I need to repair or replace the driver's seat on the Golf (2000 2.0
Cabrio Avantgarde) and I'm having difficulty sourcing a replacement or
finding someone to do the quite substantial repair that I need. Any
thoughts or...

Polo engine noise by
andy-k
I have a Polo 1.4 (1998) that has gradually become noisy at the top end.
Sounds like a single noisy tappet, apparent on startup, then goes away for a
little while until the engine warms up, and comes back. On icy days the
noise is so loud on startup that it sounds like a knocking, but then
quietens down.
Is anybody familiar with this problem?

mk4 golf coolant temp sensor by
soulman_uk
A friends mk4 golf 1.6 16v 2001 (used to have this car myself, before
I moved to the dark side of diesels)
Anyway I did a vag come scan for him last night as he had a MIL light
on and it saying the "coolant temp sensor" has an error. I cleared the
fault for him it has not come back on but he has all the symptoms of a
failed sensor, fluctuating temp needle etc, poor start from hot and
cold,...

Diagnostic tools for a MK3 by
Doki
What's the best kit to read and clear fault codes for a MK3 Golf? I know VAG
COM is all singing all dancing, but it's also quite dear, whilst standalone
fault code readers are available for relatively little ($90 or so from the
cheap chinese tat sites).
Or am I better off just taking the car to a man who knows, let him do the
diagnostics guff and do the oily bits myself?

Rear wiper relay by
stan
Hello,
I have a '97 Golf III CL Estate and the rear wiper stopped working in
the summer. It has done this before due to a badly fitted tailgate
after a rear-end shunt. I've solved the problem in the past by finding
that one or more of the wires has been cut where they pass into the
tailgate from the car.
This time, however, I haven't been able to find a break in the
circuit. My question is...

Golf running again! Still stalls occasionally... by
Ears
Finally got back the 90 Golf 8V back from the shop. It stopped
running one day when around a corner I stepped on it and it died with
a whirring sound. The shop replaced the timing belt, water pump,
battery, and starter. $750 and a week later, it's running again.
Yes!
When I got it home I replaced the oil, filter, and plugs for good
measure.
Anyway, it still stalls (dies) occasionally at...
