Hi, I checked my oil today and its just on the minimum line. I asked the previous owner what oil they had used and they said 10/40 semi synthetic but did not know the brand. Can I top up with any 10/40 semi synthetic oil or do I need to do a full oil change and oil filter change ? Thanks

Just wondering what the 'normal' oil temp should be for this engine. Only asing as my mk2 16v always hovered around 78C according to the MFA and my 8v hangs around 95-100C. I own a 2001 Wolfsburg Jetta 1.8T 20V AWW... I've had problems with the idle fluctuating... when i drop to neutral, it will sometimes drop below 600 RPMs and bounce around before stabilizing. Car has 62000 miles on it... any suggestions? I just replaced the MAF sensor and spark plugs - replacing the MAF took care of the check engine light, but the car still idles funny. Thanks! -Zack
