MkIV Golf Factory Alarm by Nick
I'm confused. I have a '99 Golf 1.6SE with central locking and factory alarm. The user manual says that when you centrally lock the car either with the remote fob or the key, the turn indicators flash to indicate that the alarm is set. Fair enough. But the manual doesn't tell you what the red LED by the lock button on top of the drivers side door trim means.

Golf 1.4 Headlight:Don't Get Fleeced by Sam Salt
The N/S/F headlight bulb expired in my wifes 2001 Mk.4 Golf 1.4S with halogen headlights. The handbook said that replacement required a visit to the dealers as parts needed to be removed to replace it,implying it was a difficult job. Did an internet rummage and true enough people were removing bumpers and headlights and taking the skin off there hands doing the job. Anyway I bit the bullet...

For Sale - Golf GTI 16 valve 1997 - only 1 previous owner with Air Con/Metallic Black. by vw-lover
I am selling my Golf GTI 16v. I have owned the car for over 5 years now and the car had 1 previous owner. The previous owner was a company which my brother in law worked for so has obtained ALL previous history receipts for the vehicle. The car is 100% standard so if you want a modified or abused car you will have to look elsewhere. Vehicle details are as follows:

Good VW garage near Southampton? by Carr
Hi, My MKIV Golf is reminding me that it is about to need its 20k mile service. Before owning this car I always did my own servicing which has left me little idea of who's good to go to in terms of quality/honesty/cost. Can anyone recommend anybody in the Solent/M3 area - or do you just suggest I bite the bullett and head for the nearest VW main dealer? Thanks in advance, S.

Mk4 Golf Central Locking by Nick
My central locking has developed a fault. From inside the car if I actuate the central locking with the door switch all 5 doors lock but then the nearside door unlocks itself. If I push the button down that door stays locked. From outside the car with either the remote or turning the key in the drivers side lock all 5 doors lock and stay locked but the indicators don't flash (they should).

Polo 2002-05 advice wanted by MarkK
I'm looking at buying one of these, probably the 1.2 either 55 or 65bhp, maybe the 75bhp 1.4. Honest John (www.honestjohn.co.uk) reckons the 65bhp 1.2 is the one to go for. The car will mainly be used around town, with the occasional longer trip possible. Is the 1.2 engine OK? I understand it's an all-alloy 3-cyl with chain-driven camshaft and balancer shaft. So should be light, reasonably...
