FS Golf GTI 16v 1997, Air Con, Met Black by
vw-lover
Have bought myself a nice v6 4motion, so I am selling my mk3 Golf GTI 16v.
I have owned the car for over 5 years now and
the car had 1 previous owner. The previous owner was a company which my
brother in law worked for so has obtained ALL previous history receipts for
the vehicle.
The car is 100% standard so if you want a modified or abused car you will
have to look elsewhere.
Vehicle details...

Got 2 Golf's - how do I insure them by
vw-lover
Just upgraded my mk3 Golf GTi 16v which I have had for over 5 years to a mk4
V6 4motion. Bought the car privately so when I pick up the V6 on Tuesday I
will have 2 cars, until I can sell the mk3. Is it possible to insure 2 cars
at the same time? Is it possible to get short term policies, was thinking
of insuring the mk3 for a few weeks until I can sell it.
Anyone have any ideas?

My 8V MK2 Golf GTi has Rainbow seats (1990, 90 spec). Did VW ever put these
in the 8V or has someone been swapping bits from a 16V?

Debadge v6 Golf by
paulovey
Hi,
Just a quick question.
Im gonna debadge my v6 4motion pretty soon. I know that fishing wire
and a bit of elbow grease will do the back badges.
But when I remove the front v6 badge, does any know if it will leave a
cut out bit in the front grille.

Sump Gaskets / Leakyness by
Doki
I fitted a GSF sump gasket to my Golf a bit back, and it seems to leak a bit
of oil. I've since bought a VW one, which is copper coated with rubber,
whereas the GSF one was a thick paper type.
Do you or do you not put sealant on metal / rubber gaskets?

Passat bearing arm. by
News.individual.net
Hi,
I had the l/h bearing arm changed last year for free after a re-call,
last week i was told by the m.o.t tester that the r/h bearing arm was
faulty,
i booked it in with the agents Ventura in Birmingham and they told me
because
there was only a small amount of play it should not fail the m.o.t and would
not change it because the re-call was over 12 months
I understood that any play in the...

Cambelt replacement period and cost on MKIII Golf 1.4 by
Chris Howells
Hi,
I have a 1995 N reg Golf 1.4 (MK III). Yesterday I took it to the
Liverpool VW dealer for its annual service.
They advised me to to have the cambelt, tensioner and water pump
replaced -- they claimed that it should be replaced every four years. Is
this correct? I was under the impression that the replacement interval
was based on mileage, not time. The car has only done 30k since new.

VW transmission oil by
rivenglo
My Passat needs gear oil to VW specification G 052 911 A SAE 75W90
synthetic.
Is this critical?? - or will any 75W90 synthetic do?
GSF has a 75W90 synthetic which they say is OK, but which doesn't have the G
052 911 number written on it. Will that be OK??

Clutch cable on MkIII golf 1.4 by
Joe
I've got a stiff clutch on my golf I presume its the cable as I've had no
problems with the clutch slipping or gears kicking out. Is this an
adjustment/grease or replacement job? Is it fairly cheap to replace £30?

1999 Polo 1.9cdi Brake Lights Failure by
Rogerthedodger
The glow coil symbol on the dashboard started flashing just as I got on the
M1 to travel to the Midlands late at night. Panic! I discovered that my
brake lights were not working. I have changed both bulbs and checked both
switches on the pedal. They are quite basic and both appear to be O.K.
Could this be a relay switch, or is it the ECU. If it is a relay does
anyone know where it is...

UK Golf MkIV Wiring Question by
Sean Peacock
Can anyone help. I have a 2003 Golf GTi 2.0 and have just purchased an
additional cigarette lighter socket that I want to connect using the cables
to the radio. The socket will be kept behind the glovebox with my mobile
phone handsfree kit. It is so that I can plug in my GPS system without
having cables trailing all over the dash. It has just a live and neutral
wire to connect. I just...
