How can I tell if water is entering the pots? by
ukdodger via CarKB.com
I lose about half pint of water every 50 miles. It's definitely not getting
into the oil (no milky froth) and I can see no leaks either when it's idling
standing still or with the engine off. There is though a small amount of
water exiting from the exhaust pipe. I'm not sure if this isnt condensation
though. I've just relaced the head gasket and wound the bolts down as per the
specified torque....

Passat 1.8T rough sometimes by
Alho
Passat 1.8 T auto 2002 46K
Out this morning from cold no problem.
Parked after 10 miles for about 20 mins, when I restarted it seemed to be
missing and shaking, seemed to clear when rev'd. Thought about coils.
(replaced less than 12 months ago.) disconnected each one in turn, each one
seemed to have the same effect.
Then the problem seemed to clear.

I've nearly finished replacing all the brake pipes rear of the bias

adjustment once the pipes are disconnected from it. Is this true?
It's adjusted by moving a threaded thing that alters the tension of a spring
IIRC. It...

No, it should only need setting up when you fiddle with the suspension
or the valve itself.
I had mine sorted by a local independent. All you...

Safe to swap ecu's?.... by
Chris
Hi all.
I have a 1990 GTi 8v with a standard Bosch ECU Pt No 037 906 022 N. It is
marked DigifantII and DF-1.
I also have another complete ECU which has an AMD chip fitted. It is also
marked DigifantII and DF-1 however it has a different part no, 037 906 022
BC. Although it's wiring harness connector is sort of at the other end to
my original ecu, is it safe to assume I can use this ecu...

Water in your Passat..SOLUTION.. by
AndyB03
If you have found water (lots of) in your rear footwell on the left
hand side of the car then read on. I recently followed the advice in
the following link and was amazed at how effective it is. Please bare
in mind if your carpets are wet then there will be a tidal wave
underneath so you must get them lifted, remember you have the CCM in
the front and the wiring loom from front to back (none of...

whiffy diesel golf by
Angus Manwaring
My friend Iain has an N reg Golf diesel estate, and it pongs inside
apparently. He was talking about trying to cure it by changing the oil,
but I said I would ask you guys before he disposes of some of my son's
future resources needlessly.
The smell is sort of "eggie" or "sulphurous", or, and I quote, like
somebody has "dropped one". :)
The problem is most noticeable when the car is stationary...
