Sharan auto to manual conversion by R.P.McMurphy
Is this a reasonably possible job? its a 1997 1.9tdi. I've heard that many many components will need to be swapped...i.e. axle shafts, break disks, black boxes ect. Does anyone know for sure? Cheers Steve

Free to a Good Home - Engine Oil by Peter
Thanks to what I can best describe as a cock-up, I have two unopened 1l bottles of engine oil that's no use to me. If you'd like it, please come and get it (from Reigate, Surrey, UK). However, I will not accept any liability if you put it in your sump and then discover that it's the wrong stuff for your car. So please, please check your owner's manual before you come here. The stuff in question...

Idling now racing by Tod
Mk2 Golf 1600 auto 1990. Just got back from an hour or so on the motorway and found that the idling revs have jumped to a much higher speed. And when I turned off the ignition it carried on ‘dieseling’(?) for a good 4 or 5 seconds. (I think I’ve got transistorised ignition (not contact breaker and not electronic)). It’s never happened before. Any suggestions? Tod

Passat Turbo/Intercooler Hose Oil Leak by george
I have a 2001 VW Passatt 1.9TDI 130BHP that is leaking oil from the various joints between the Turbo Charger and Intercooler. It has always leaked oil from the joint above the Intercooler depositing oil onto the inner wing, I am told this is common. It has started to leak a fair amount of oil from the joint next to the Oil Filter and below the Intercooler. My concern is that I am told that...

However, on Main beam it works fine. Iv invested in a multi-meter but have little experiance of the methodology to find the cause of the problem. Also every so often, the OS headlight will come on normally,...

Replacing VR6 Water pump by Rog
Hi, Long time lurker and owner of '95 Golf VR6 which is starting to show signs of its age. Last weekend I regreased the bone dry belt tensioner after unpleasant noises started coming from under the bonnet but whilst I had the belt slack discovered a huge amount of play in the water pump pulley (~5mm) and suspect that was probably the main source of noise (I decided not to start the engine...

Oh the ticking! by Tralfalmador
I have an old VW Golf 1.8 8v (1990) with about 110, 000 miles. The car runs great but the motor has a terrible tick. I've tried oil additives.... they only work for about a week, if that. I know the car sat for a long time before I bought it (hence the low miles). Can anyone help me???????

VW Golf problem by __JJ__
Hi, I've had a Mk3 Golf for about a year and a problem has just occurred with it. While i was driving along alot of smoke began pouring from the exhaust pipe. Also when you rev the engine it gives a sort of 'clunking' sound. As all of this happend the battery seemed to begin to die, it kept on stalling and then seemed to have to work harder just to get the engine going. I would b grateful if...

internal courtesy/delay lights passat1.9tdi 1999 by Pee Cee
Hi Guys, My internal courtesy lights have just stopped working when remote unlocking and removing key.? They work fine when switched on manually, coincidence or not I don't know, but the passenger side puddle light isn't working either, in fact it is showing live on both wires! I have removed the door panel and can't see anything untowards, apart from the fact it has been messed with by...

Does anyone know if there is a microphone in 2001 Bora by mattmoran76@gmail.com
Hi guys, I've done a search for this question in the groups, and even though its been asked a few times no one has ever answered it. I'm about to install a HCB-300 bluetooth car kit and wanted to know if there is already a mic in that little vent by the interior lights, and if so where does the lead run to? I think this would be a much cleaner install then running a seperate

Can't change thermostat on 96 PassatTDi by Chris Melluish
I want to change the thermostat on my 1996 Passat TDi. It is taking a long time to warm up and rarely reaching its previous normal running temperature, so I thought I would change it before the winter. I spent £7.99 at Halfords, and after reading my Haynes manual ventured underneath the car. What I found was not the same as in the manual - I could work out where the thermostat is but cannot...
