missing service a problem? by
blokedownpub
Hi, I've just seen a 2003 golf tdi 130 that i like and it's at a good
price but it has a stamp missing in the service book for the 30000
service, but had all others. Most recent was the 40k.
The previous owners probably had it done somewhere else but I can't
verify that that is the case. All other stamps came from the same
dealership.
If the car didn't have a 30k service, what's the likelyhood...

Reset ECU ? by
R28
Golf MK3 VR6
After replacing the fuel filter due to hesitation during low rpm, now low
rpm pick up is normal but seems top power is not very good....
Is it needed to reset the ECU for full power?
Is it ok to detach the battery to reset?

VR6 Golf Pull to one side by
R28
VW friends,
I have noticed the left control arm is longer than the right one because the
ball joints are not installed on the same position on the enlongated holes
of control arms.
Then I pushed the left ball joint inside to shorten the arm length and
roughly adjust the camber and toe for test drive.
The vehicle now pull slowly and much slightly.

Ultimate diesel and PD TDi engines by
Tim Downie
Is the extra cost of BP Ultimate diesel offset significantly by improvements
in consumption and/or other benefits?
Planning to try out a tankfull but it would be nice to know if it's a
complete waste of time or not. ;-)

Traffic film remover by
Martin
I use a pressure washer to clean my car, as winter is on it's way, I am
looking for an effective but safe detergent to use, and preferably not have
to revert to a mitt or sponge, I have been looking at various non caustic
TFR , anyone here have experience of these?
Especially the swarfega powerwash non caustic or any decent pressure washer
shampoo.
TIA

Polo Engine Man warning light - Exhaust by
poloman
A garagehas said that my 2001 1.4 Polo needs a new MAP Sensor to turn
out the warning light on the dash.
Am I right in thinking that this is the unit half way down the fat
breather pipe that exits the Air cleaner and goes down the back of the
engine ?
If it is ? how the Heck does it come off I can't even get the wired
plug off I, let alone remove the pipes to see if they are blocked ?

VW Passat 130TDI Gas sound under load by
Sadcrab
My Passat 130 TDI has started making a noise only under load.
The sound is gas (exhaust or air unsure)being blown out somewhere, as it
only happens under load I can't determine where the possible leak is, when
driving the car it is noticeably louder with the drivers window open, sound
appears to be coming from drivers side near or behind the turbo.
The sound as I say is only under load...

vw bad weather performance? by
ecuguru@gmail.com
Hi,
I got to rent a Jetta 2.0T when I was in San Diego and loved it. But I
live in a snowy winter wonderland, and want to make sure that it's not
too bad when it comes to snow/bad weather. Ice sucks for all cars, get
it, more concerned about snow / water on roads.
Have been trying to find something in a v4 turbo or v6, with side air
bags, and possibly AWD. Surprised there is no global google...

re- 94 polo mot fail by
Joe
Okay got brake lines done for £40 against the garages £180, fixed her rusted
number plater bulb for £5 (the pair) from scrap yard. While I was flicking
through her papers I noticed that on her emissions test the probe picked up
no CO2, which would point towards her manifold (that is blowing) being a
fail. Yet there is a reading at the lamba sensor, what is this reading?
Overall the sheet shows...

Golf V GTI DSG floor pedals ? by
Juan King
My wife has new 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI DSG.
I have noticed that only the brake and accelerator pedals are in
the alloy/rubber facings. The left footrest is merely the dark
grey plastic. In the sales brochures, it clearly shows both the
GTI and R32 with the alloy/rubber left footrest on the DSG
models.
Can anyone else with a DSG GTI check for the alloy/rubber
footrest. I'd like to hear from...

Coolant Loss - Mk2 Golf Syncro by
Huwbert01
My coolant leaks to below min but then stabilises.
The system has been pressure tested and has no leaks. The gasket is sound
or the engine would have stopped by now. I had a similar problem on my
previous car of the same model.
Any suggestions?
