Owen McKeown
My car is a 1.6 Golf (2001), runs perfectly except at idle when it often
runs very roughly. Been to garage several times but no improvement. Any
ideas?
Thanks

Passat Cutting Out by
JohnA
I have a 2002 2.0L petrol passat which suddenly cut out on me whilst
driving home today. Fortunately I managed to pull over to the side of
the road but after that every time I tried to start the engine it would
run ok for about 1 or 2 seconds and then cut out again. When the RAC
eventually arrived they couldn't figure out what was wrong. No fault
codes were showing up and no problems with...

Emissions Warning Light by
Sam Salt
The Emissions Warning Light has been on all day in my wifes Mk.1V Golf
1.4 petrol.
It has come on at odd times in the past but has always gone out again.
I have it booked in on Monday for a diagnosis hopefully it might go out
before then and perhaps I may be able to cancel it and save a bob or two.
Is this anything to be concerned about ?

VW Lupo / Audi A2 3 cyl. 1.2 turbo diesel by
bbutlergps
Howdy,
Speaking to you folks over "the pond" and was wondering about the VW
Lupo / Audi A2 3 cylinder 1.2 liter turbo diesel. I am looking at this
power plant for an aircraft. This engine is all alluminum and weighs in
at 100 kg. This power plant that I am looking for is in 2000 and up
models of the VW Lupo or Audi A2. I am looking for a complete engine
along with the controller.
Thanks,
Bill

"Forcing" aircon to activate in cold weather by
Tim Downie
I'm paying for being a cheapskate now and not opting for full climatronic
control in my VW Touran.
What hadn't occured to me was that despite having aircon, there would be no
way to force the aircon to activate for demisting purposed in cold weather.
I've never had (or driven) a car where this wasn't possible before and I'm
sorely missing it in this cold damp weather.
Presuming that the...

Pierburg 2e2 by
Ted Tofield
A quick question: having owned my MK2 Golf for a while now I've got
used to it's little foibles and have remedied several ignition and
carburation problems however I'm now suffering from something new (to
me)
I was hoping for a quick solution as the old car is getting a bit
bloody lethal!
Now I'm not sure I've got the names of all these bits right so bear
with me please! The throttle is being...

Pierburg 1B by
Yvan
I have Pierburg 1B2 ('87 BMW 316 E30) that is similar to 1B3 fitted to some
VW cars. The difference is in cold start system (on 1B2 it is fully
automatic - you do not need to depress throttle pedal before starting the
engine).
Since this automatic cold start system is not working as it should
(TN-starter or waxstat is broken), I was thinking of replacing complete
carb with 1B3 from VW.
But...

VW Golf Mk2 Headlamp problem! by
crj80@yahoo.co.uk
Hi, I have a 1991 golf 1.8 carb with a confusing problem...
The N/S headlamp bulb is not working. The bulb is definitely fine as it
works when swapped over to the driver's side. I have tested the N/S
bulb connector contacts with a multimeter and I have 12v being
supplied to the bulb (identically to the O/S), so I am totally confused
as to why it won't work. The only thing I can think of is...

"Forcing" aircon to activate in cold weather by

Dear all
I have been following this discussion with interest, but I am a little
confused.
Both my previous two cars, a Renault Laguna and an Alfa 147, had Automatic
climate control, they also had a control to press (or twist) for front
screen demist. This set the...

Mk 2 Golf stalls since new exhaust fitted by
dandbnews@talktalk.net
Hi
The other day I had a new rear exhaust box fitted to my 1989 Mk2 Golf
1600 Automatic. Since then, when the car is warm, it stalls on idle.
Its okay while the engine is warming up. Because just the rear box was
replaced, there's no reason why the fitters should have entered the
engine compartment, so nothing should have been disturbed. I have
checked the vacuum hoses and all appear to be...

Heated seats by
diy-newby
Heated seats have stopped working on my Golf V6 4motion, 2000 X reg.
The passenger seat never got as warm as the drivers but other day, they
stopped working all together. I have checked the fuse in the side panel of
the dash and it is fine. Is this the only fuse they run from, what are the
other bigger fuses on the battery?
Thanks

Plastic window regulator clips on mk4 Golf by
diy-newby
I think my plastic regulator clips are about to break. Whenever I close my
passenger window it moves very slowly towards the top and there is a
crunching / cracking sound. I presume this is the plastic clips about to
break. I know there is a repair kit which consists of new metal clips but
has anyone done the repair? How hard is the job?

Been looking at caravelle, see other messages.
Notice that there are a couple of v class mercedes for sale. Anyone on
the group had experience of how the caravelle compares to the v class?
Thinking of reliability, mpg, internal dimensions e.t.c.

caravelle purchase dilemma by
keith Barret
Just returned from looking at a caravelle and would like some input from
anyone in the know about this vehicle.
It is a longwheel base 9 seater 2.5 td (not the higher power version.
Now the downside, mileage is 312.xxx, a bit on the high side.
Other downs, drivers seat is falling to bits, owner is also reporting a
fault where sometimes when the engine is started, throttle does not do...

Passat Interior Air vent removal by
Dom
Hi All,
I have a 2000 model Passat TDI and my bro damaged the central interior air
vents with a crappy clip on phone holder. As a result the once smooth
venetian blind-like vent is all wonky and out of sync. I'd like to take it
out and fix it if possible or go down to VW and order a new one (last
resort), but I haven't got a clue as to how to remove it as I can't find
anything about that in...

EOS computer thingie by

I just took delivery of my new Eos. The computer display thing just
confuses me, I really don't understand the handbook at all. Can anyone tell
me if there is a way to change the temperature display from centigrade to
Fahrenheit, I'm too old for centigrade?
I promise I am really not normally this useless but the handbook is terrible
on this!!
Cheers
