VW Golf MK2 1.8 Gti 8v 1989 Reverse Lights Stuck on by
duncanfbell@yahoo.co.uk
I recently purchased a VW Golf MK2 1.8 Gti 8v 1989 and am trying to fix
a few problems before its MOT is due.
The reverse lights are stuck on all the time, so I have had to remove
the fuse!!
I have replaced the reverse switch situated on the gearbox with a new
one, and this makes no difference.
I am wondering if there is a wiring problem... or the lights are

Fuel Filter? by
Ears
Where is the fuel filter in a 1.8/8V Golf? I bought it and it looks
like a cannister with nipples on each end... does it go under the seat?
Or under the car? Thanks!

Replacement headlamp bulbs on Golf Mk3 GL? by
mankymanning@googlemail.com
I have a 96 Golf TDi GL wth the "twin" style headlamps? The headlamps
are a bit dull and I think some brighter bulbs might help.
Does anyone know what sort I need to buy and how many? It would seem
like the normal none-twin Golf ones are different to the twin type?
Were there just these two types? Are the headlamps I have the same as
the ones fitted to the GTi/VR6 models?

Independent VW Garage Northants Aera by
Oscar
Does anybody know of a good independent VW specialist in the Northants
area. The car is now out of warranty and I'm looking at taking it
out of the VW service network when it's next service is due but I'd
still like to take it to a garage that specialises in the marquee and
has all the correct diagnostic equipment etc.
The car's a 2003 Polo
Thanks

Garages that do cash in hand by
History
Is this as wide spread as it is in my little town?
Garage: "Hum...we'll call it £250 cash only...unless you want a receipt"
Me: "no...no...its...okay boss I understand wink wink"
He can't offer a warranty on the paint job anyway as it's rust related, so
how can I lose? I could have barted him down I know, as its not on the books
obviously right?
What do you lot do?

Passat Headlamp Condensation by
Sadcrab
Hi,
My Passat 130 TDI suffers from condensation or perhaps water in the nearside
headlamp.
I've removed the lamp and checked for leaks and found the lens and top of
the lamp to be watertight.
I can only assume that water is entering the lamp through the vents at the
rear (2 small holes about 5mm diameter with a rubber elbow attached) after

VW Polo M-reg camshaft prob's - price? by
tracyccox@googlemail.com
Hi there ...
My mother's just taken her VW Polo (M reg, low miles - about 35,000 I
think, does about 3,000 a year, reg serviced etc) to the garage.
Having been told it's unroadworthy and needs a new camshaft, she's been
quoted "somewhere between £200 and £500" to fix.
This garage has always struck me as a little dodgy, but she won't budge
or get a second opinion.

Mk4 golf loss of acceleration. by
johnbond
hi,
I have a 2001 1.4s golf I was just reaching 50mpoh on a dual carriageway and
it went flat in speed it just won't not budge past 50 I floored it and
nothing, big steaming truck behind me flashing. I eased off then re-applied
and all was fine no problems after that.
Just wondering if this is the sign of something failing ?

Golf Mk4 (TDi 100BHP) Rattling Noise by
mitul.ruparelia@gmail.com
Hi,
I have a Mk4 Golf (2003) TDi 100BHP - 40k on the clock, which seems to
be making a rattling noise (the kind of rattling noise when your in a
higher gear and your trying to drive).
The noise comes when moving off (and is worse when climbing a steep
hill) - It only lasts 2-3 seconds.
There is no performance impact or clutching problems - that I can tell

Golf Mk4 (TDi 100BHP) Interior Back Left Rattling Noise by
mitul.ruparelia@gmail.com
Hi,
My Golf (Mk4 TDi 100Bhp 2003) seems to have an interior rattling noise
coming from the back left pillar (where the seat belt is) when I am
driving - not suspension related.
Has anyone else seen/heard of this problem?
I am considering taking apart the panel and make sure all bolts, clips
etc are firmly fitted but I am a little worried I may make the problem

1.4 Golf Mk 3 front suspension torque setting by
Hi, I'm busy rebuilding the front control arms and drive hubs on my son's
Mk3 Golf. Does anyone have the torque settings for the two strut bolts which
connect the suspension to the drive hub? I've searched through the manual
but the only setting I can find seems very light (26poundsfeet),
