mk4 golf wiper blades question by Sarah[_4_]
A bit of a odd question but are the front wipers on the mk4 golf straight or curved ? they are 19 and 21 inches I think ? Just saw some on ebay a few pounds less than halfords and thought great but I asked thre seller and he said they're supposed to be straight not curved. But for some reason I have it in my head as the passenger side was curved ? Thanks

Golf Mk4 TDi Intermittent Blower by noodlesUK@gmail.com
Hi Apologies if asked before, couldn't find any info in a search. The air blower on my mk4 golf stopped working a few days ago. Switch was on full speed but no air circulation in the cabin. I've found that after leaving the car overnight, the blower will then function as normal in the morning, as if something resets itself overnight. Would appreciate any info on what could be at fault. Cheers

Source for info on "Rabbit" engines?? by a425couple
What are the best places (books or on-line) to increase my general knowledge of my VW Rabbit type engine? Background - I have raced cars (road racing SCCA type) for a fair time. I currently have in my +/- 1,000 pound race car an engine based on a VW (US = rabbit) 1.6 L diesel block, Head is marked with VW/Audi stamps "21" "WWO 1.6" "049.103.373B" "583780" - been lead to believe that confirms it...

Polo Sdi Air Bag Switch by Titus
Hello All I'm attempting to ascertain the feasibility of retro fitting an air bag on/ off switch to the vehicle specified above, in order to control the firing of the front passenger airbag. Has anyone done this on a DIY basis? Is such an item available for retro fitting? Presumably there must be some intervention required on the Vagcom front in order to pre-empt the disarming of the airbag...

Fitting cruise control to a Mk4. Risky???? by Charles 65
Hi there I'm thinking of getting a company to fit cruise control to my Golf MK4 SE Auto (which has the traditional throttle system, rather than the drive-by-wire). 1. If you've had this done, can you let me know please how it's working for you? Have you had any problems afterwards? 2. Has anyone had any dealings with the company that are going to fit

New cat mk4 golf by Sarah[_4_]
MK4 golf 1.6s 16v 2001 My cat has been on its last legs and needs replacing a call to vw and they said its a complicated job and called me back with a quote of £634 inc parts labour and vat. *gulp* Called GSF car parts and the part on its own is £112.80. Now the vw service guy said they had to drop the subframe ? and modify the the exhaust to get a new one on. Not sure if this is true or not ?

Mk4 Polo - Cooling fan not working by DavidA
Hi My Mk4 Polo overheated today because the cooling fan is not working. I have checked the fuses. The Haynes manual suggests disconnecting the cooling fan thermostatic switch and bridging the relevant contacts in the wiring plug. Trouble is I can't find the switch. Haynes says it is mounted on the left-hand inner wing. Not sure which is left side in their convention. Is this on the coolant...

Correct oil for Golf Mk 4 TDI 90 HP? by Angus Manwaring
Hello.... My Golf Mk 4 TDI 2002 has started nagging for a service, so I duly went along to my VW dealer and bought the filters, oil etc. I'm a bit worried though because there was a lot of head scratching about which oil to use (this is the first service since I've had the car). I think because the car was imported from the continent by its original

Do you want to know RIGHT NOW how YOU can drive around using WATER AS FUEL and LAUGH at RISING GAS COSTS while at the same time REDUCE emissions and help PREVENT GLOBAL WARMING? While 100% "water cars" and "water trucks" are still on the drawing board, I am very excited to show you how you can start RIGHT NOW and use Water4Gas to DOUBLE YOUR GAS MILAGE.

Golf MKIV 1.6 88,000 miles, auto gearbox shifts high, likepermanently in sports mode by Digitaltoast
The gearbox seems to shift much higher than I'd expect, even when gentle accelerating on the flat, it feels like it's in sports mode all the time. (Even though it doesn't have a sports mode!) It just revs a bit high and changes late. I thought there would be a dipstick to check the auto gearbox fluid level, but there's nothing in the manual(!) and can't find anything on the web except how to...
