2.5tdi pd 130bhp and 174bhp differences by Kompressor
Hi, does anyone know what the differences are between these two engines, is it just ecu and injectors? also, is there a reasonable max power/torque that you can put through a 2004 six speed tiptronic box on a t30 transporter van?

2007 Passat Tow Electrics by romanview@btinternet.com
When I ordered a new style Passat I got the VW dealer to fit the towbar with the official and expensive VW (13 pin) electrics. I find that the tow electrics only work when the ignition key is in and depressed (switched on). The dealer insists that is how it should work but I am not convinced. Because of the way it is wired we could not use the parking lights or hazard warning lights unless we...

VW Polo 1.9 SDI glowplug light issue by Simon Finnigan
Hi all, On an 02 plate polo, 1.9 SDI, there is an issue with the glowplug light. It flashed on the last minute of the drive to work today, and on checking the handbook it states that there is an issue with the engine computer, take it to a dealer. On returning to the car that evening the car started as normal and the glowplug light went out immediately. About a minute into the drive it...

2002 Passat front suspension by Ralph Bayley
I'm about to change the front springs on my Passat I checked to see what I need to do for the job and I note that the upper spring plate needs to set at 11 deg ± 2 deg. I assume that if I place a mark on the plate and other related parts with paint when I reassemble the strut as long as the paint marks are aligned then the upper spring plate will be set back to 11 deg ± 2 deg or will I have to...

2001 1.6 Golf Erratic Idle by Owen McKeown
My 1.6 Golf has been suffering from erratic idle for some time and this has persisted despite two visits to garage. I have heard that these symptoms can be caused by a "Power Steering Switch Fault". Can anyone comment and if true where is this switch and how do I check?. -- O.McKeown

What colour is my car? by rubsley
I've a '89 Golf Driver and I'm wanting to know what colour it is. I'm thinking it's either Tornado or Mars Red, but I really can't be sure which one it is. Should there be a colour code somewhere? I have a picture, if that would help. Many thanks, as I'm sure someone out there will know the answer to this! Rory

mk2 Jetta/vento Tranny swap/reverse light switch by Jerry Lynds
Hello, I have a 92 Jetta that I recently had switched over from an automatic to a manual. The reverse light switch on the transmison was hooked directly to the battery, so if left in reverse the back up lights would stay on even if the car was turned off. I decided to pull out the fuse panel to look for a switched 12v lead to tie into. When I pulled the fuse panel down, the return wire...

Passat Estate boot solenoid questions by Simon Finnigan
Hi everyone, I`ve got a 2002 Passat Estate, with a slightly faulty boot :-) It opens fnie with the key, but it isn`t possible to open it using the electronics - the remote key fob, the toggle on the drivers door and the switch on the boot itself do nothing. The solenoid itself doesn`t move or make any noise when anything is done that should activate it. All the fuses are fine (we couldn`t...

Changing the battery on my remote control key by Hungerdunger
The battery on the key to my 2005 Caddy van (which appears to be identical to my Golf key, so I presume it's a fairly standard item) is flat. Can I replace it myself, or this a chance for my dealer to make some more money out of me? IF I can do it myself, can someone explain how I take the thing apart? TIA --

To please "diy-newby", who was 'complaining' that it is quiet here, heres a question for you. Looking in the owners hand book for my 06 Passat. the wheel bolt torque setting is shown as 120.Nm that seems a little high to me. (about 90 - 95 ft-lbs) What do you think. Dave S
