Good MK II Golf Garage in Greater London? by
Pete M
David McLennan waffled on in a quite bewildering manner to produce...
Hello,
Could anyone out there make any recommendations on a good garage
to carry out some work on my beloved MK II golf?
I need two things fixed:
a) Some little ba5t**d tried to break in by levering the drivers
door handle off the car. They were scared away when the alarm went
off, but I now have a...

'98 Golf GT TDI 110 - 80,000 service - opinions sought by
Mark White
Try Autowerke next to Sloans in Edinburgh. They are all ex VW Audi
technicians and now maintain my Mk2 Gti. Been going to them for last two
years and charge £35 p/h rather than £65 at Sloans. Everything they have
done has been perfect plus they are a Bosch service agent. Don't let the
premises put you off !

Variable service intervals and oil - 02 Golf TDI 100PD by
anthony james
John Allan wrote in message
Of more immediate concern is that your oil warning light came on and you
only added a quarter litre of oil. I would have thought at least a litre
should have been added to bring the level up to the correct level. Ideally
above the knurled section on the dipstick at the top of the recessed area.
I think i found the correct oil...

Headgasket blew :o( by

I think he meant the service indicator which is just a reminder to have an
oil service. It comes up in place of the trip counter and goes off after 30
seconds or so. If this was the first time it came on, I doubt it has
anything to do with the failure.

1992 Golf power hood problem by
Chaney
Reach your hand up and push at the hood...never lower the hood without doing
this as it puts extra strain on the motor...
If this doesn't cure the problem and you wanna lower the hood manually
loosen off the valve in the left hand side of the boot and just pull at the
hood (gently)...don't miss out on the sun...

Storage space in Polo by

My wife's T reg Polo is seriously lacking storage space.
I've just driven a Merc A class for a few days and it had
storage drawers under the seats. I now see from the VW web
page that Polos have these too - does anyone know if it''s
possible to retro fit these, or if they were available...

2000 Polo 1.4 Engine noise by
John C
We deal in three year old VW Polo's and have noticed that many 1.4 and 1.0
engines have a noise that sounds like the ends rattling, it is more
noticeable when cold, but can still be heard when warm with a blip of the
throttle, it is defiantly not the tappet noise, that we are all used to
after they have been standing for a few days.
A local VW service advisor confirmed that it was known as a...

mk2 Golf overheats by
John Reay
I have a 1991 Golf Driver 1.8 auto which loses water through the expansion
tank when driven in hot weather. I have replaced the filler cap, thermostat
and the 3 pin fan thermoswitch, but still have the same problem.
It seems to be that the fan only operates at normal speed and never at boost
speed and never for long after the ignition is turned off.
Can anybody help?

'98 Golf GT TDI 110 - 80,000 service - opinions sought by
Dave
If you get it serviced properly (not necessarily at a VW dealer) then it'll
last longer than 2 more years.
I assume that price is a dealer. Why not look at independent VW specialists.

wasn't, it was doing that all by itself, even with the ignition key out!
Anyway, the good old AA rescued me and took the car to an Autohaus to be
mended.
Do you drive a stick or an automatic?
If you are driving a stick you should have shut the engine down by leaving
it in gear and slam de brakes and keep the brake...

VW assistance/"Longlife Mobility Guarantee" by

I've got a VW Golf, bought unregistered from a supermarket in the UK,
which had been imported from the Netherlands.
The manual talks about the VW Longlife Mobility Guarantee. It appears
that this incorporates a roadside repair/recovery service and that it
is provides cover throughout Europe. Also that this continues so long
as the car is serviced by Volkswagen and to continue whoever owned...
