I think he meant the service indicator which is just a reminder to have an oil service. It comes up in place of the trip counter and goes off after 30 seconds or so. Reach your hand up and push at the hood...never lower the hood without doing this as it puts extra strain on the motor... If this doesn't cure the problem and you wanna lower the hood manually loosen off the valve in the left hand side of the boot and just pull at the hood (gently)...don't miss out on the sun... -- Chaney

I have a 1991 Golf Driver 1.8 auto which loses water through the expansion tank when driven in hot weather. I have replaced the filler cap, thermostat and the 3 pin fan thermoswitch, but still have the same problem.
