warning light by
Rich
Mark 2 GTi 8v (92)
I've got my warning light flashing on the dash the (water temp one) but the
water temp gauge is fine as is the oil temp from the multi function display.
What does this light actually mean, is it temp or coolant level.
I Think the expansional vessel is leaking around the filling cap as I can
hear a hissing noise when the car is hot and the bonnet is up.

Extending the Warranty by
Daphne Dean
My Lupo has just passed three years old and I have been offered the chance
to extend the warranty by Volkswagen Approved Warranty Office for £365 for 1
year or £615 for two years.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is a good idea, or any
experience of trying to claim on it, please? Also, is it actually offered
by VW or a franchise?
Many thanks

Polo Coupe engine by
NeilS
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the advice. I've tried what you described, but there are
now more maladies.
Here's what I did... I removed the airfilter housing and found the
breather pipe. Mine has a large green canister half way along which I
think is not original as it is held in place with worm type jubilee
clips, not the springy ones used elsewhere on the engine. I removed
the pipe from the crankcase...

Passat Headlights by

You could try Bosch Xenon replacement bulbs, they certainly made a
difference to my VR6, they throw more of a white light than the usual
yellow.

Wheel Bearings / CV Boot/Joints by

Variable service intervals and oil - 02 Golf TDI 100PD by
Vartan Narinian

Cars nowadays need very little maintenance. A 'service' is just...

How to change a Corrado distributor... by

Has anyone changed a distributor on a 16v 1.8 Corrado? Any
tips/pitfalls? or is it an easy job for a DIYer, or does it need a
trip to a garage?

Xenons - Now there's the rub! by
Kev
Hi, I'm taking my lovely new 150 bhp diesel Golf Gti with shiny Xenon
headlights, over to France in a couple of weeks.
Does anyone have any experience of switching these things for driving
on the wrong side of the road? Of course you can't just stick normal
beam benders on the lenses as they get too hot or something. There's
meant to be a magic lever behind each of the lights that just flicks
it...

Noise when Clutch is depressed by
Dave & Jenn
I've got a 01 Jetta Wolfsburg 1.8T with only 28,000 miles. And I am hearing
a whine when I depress the clutch. I'm not familiar with the clutch system
in the vw. Does it use a throwout bearing??? That shouldn't be the case
unless there is a known problem??? Can anyone help me out???
Thanks Dave

Turbo's by
Khamelion
I have a Mk3 Golf Estate 1.9 Tdi on which I know the Turbo is playing up (
The wastegate is fubar) thus I'm only getting half the boost I should around
1400bar (900bar is unloaded and under full load the turbo should kick out
1900bar).
I would therefore like to replace my turbo, I'm not sure if the turbo is a
KKK or a Garret. I know with one iof them you can replace the wastegate as
it is a...

I have recently bought a Ford Mondeo L Reg 1.8 16v, and all

first time), after a few seconds of reving, it will cut out but once
warmed up its fine.
After looking under the bonnet, I found the following connector:

Golk Mk1 fuel sender unit - which hose is which? by
Jason Mann
Hi folks,
My girlfriends Mk. 1 Golf is not working at the moment, with fuel problems.
Recently, the filler hose to the fuel tank had perished, dribbling fuel all
over the road, so she took it to the garage for a repair. The garage did
the repair OK, but managed to trap one of the two hoses that go to the
engine between the chassis and tank, clamping it closed. She managed to
drive the car...
