Passat Fog lights. by Phil
I have Passat 1.9TDI est with front fogs. They seem to be aimed very low and Im sure they move when Im driving (like there loose). I mentioned this to the garage when it was serviced on Monday and they say there isnt any adjustment and they "just bolt to the bumper!" Is this true? Or is it the usual VW dealer crap?

Passat track rod again by Chris Bartram
Gilbert wrote: Can anyone tell me why my local VW stealership has declined the job of replacing a split steering rack boot on my 1996 Passat because "the end of the track rod has been 'heated up' and the thread is damaged"? Does that make the job difficult? (Why would it have been done in the first place also comes to mind.) And in the meantime, can anyone recommend somewhere in...

electric windows on my polo by John Horton
Hi, I have a post 98 polo which has it's front e-windows stuck. I can't seem to get them open at all :( First the offside one stuck (it opened a bit (it stuck at first) so I closed it again and it has never opened again. A few weeks later, the nearside one did the same thing. Has anyone else experienced anyhting like this? I am not very mechanically minded, but would like to 'root cause' this...

Golf central locking by Tim
Yoy are probably correct, there in a sensor on the lock, for your fuel cap , have a look behind the carpet on the inside of the cap in the boot , should be a little bit of wire to open the cap Have a good one Tim "JonM" wrote in message ... Hi, I have a '94 Gti. There is a problem with the central locking pump....

91 Jetta bumper by Robert Flint
Can anyone shed any light on how easy it is to remove and refit the 'big bumper' on a 91 Jetta GX 1.6. The Haynes manual doesn't seem to mention it at all. ROB

1997 Polo Gearstick Replacement by Paul Doxsey
Folks, Does anyone know how to remove the gearstick handle on a 1997 Polo?? I've lifted the gaiter and its just a mass of plastic and metal. I don't want to force anything as knowing my luck I'll snap an expensive but vital piece of plastic. The reason for its removal - the bloody thing has split just under the round thing with the diagram of the gear gates on it, and its starting to...

MkII Golf Axle weight? by Gary
Hi, I've got a MkII Golf (1.6), on the drivers side only of the front axle there is a red plastic covered weight? originally this was obviously fixed near the centre of the car but has perished and now merrily moves up and down the axle, it's temporarily fixed back in it's original position but... what is this for? can it be safely cut off? Regards, Gary

Golf electrics by Chris Bartram
JonM wrote: Hi there, I am having a problem getting my Golf up and running. Its been sitting unused for about 6 months and what I originally thought was just a starter engine problem now seems to be far more complicated. The central locking does not even work (the immobiliser will lock the doors but not open them) and I cannot get the fuel-cap door open to put more petrol in ! (the...

Passat track rod by Gilbert
I'm trying to locate a S/H track rod for my 96 Passat 1.9 Tdi estate. My local VW garage says there isn't a new one in the country, and that it would have to be ordered through Germany...blah, blah, blah. (Cynical, moi?) While phoning round, someone somewhere said it was the same as a Golf. Is this true? Cheers! Gilbert

98 passat 1.8t brakes by usenetacct
Pretty obvious metallic sounding click from front drivers side (wheel?) when I brake. Taken wheel off and examined calliper's, pads, discs, suspension joints and all seems well except for play in calliper but this seems to be the play you would expect in a floating calliper anyway. Any thoughts? TIA --

VW Servicing by Paul Doxsey
You probably have! Sorry. I gave up on VW servicing when I took my 97 Polo 1.4 for a service at the local VW garage here in South Wales. I turned up at 8:30am - booked in at 8:45am. Car went into bay at 8:50am. Car came out of bay at 9:20am, car was declared ready at 9:36am. This cost £240. So in about an hour VW reckon they did a full 60,000 mile service, AND VALET the car. B%^&&*£$ they did. I...

Silent silencer (?) by Roy Hammond
I rather fancy running a "Q-car": travelling with the minimum of noise. What make/type of exhaust silencer will provide a quiet exhaust note and last a long time (eg made of stainless steel), but without worsening the car performance? -Robert- 1995 VW Golf GTI Mk3 (Surrey, England)

1989 Polo 1.3 Ranger Sun Hatch by Rachel
I recently bought a polo, and made the mistake of buying while the sun was shining. In the past week with all the rain I have discovered that the sun roof leaks, alot! Its a hatch rather than one which slides back. I have checked the seal and it doesn't look perriished or spilt, but I can't find the water drainage pipes which are illustrated in my haynes Manual. Do I have to remove all the seals...

Mk4 VW Golf RDi - electric wing mirror adjuster by Mike NG
Having suffered the plastic bits on the regulator go on the electric window, I was adjusting the wing mirrors with the knob and it snapped off in my hands! Does the whole of the panel have to come off to replace this, or does it just snap in and out of the door. Having watched them replace it I saw how relatively easy it was to take the inside panel off, but I don't want to remove it if it...

diesel engine for T25 by Peter Fabrizio

WHere is the best place to get an engine for a 2.5 tdi transporter? by Adam Lipscombe
Folks, I think my 1999 T reg 2.5 tdi (102 bhp) transporter need a new engine - it overheated on the mootorway when the waterpump went and now makes a very nasty clacking noise when running :-( I presume a genuine VW item will cost the earth - does anyone know of a place that will supply a decent replacement at a reasonable price?
