Indicators by
sonya.evans
Hi there,
I've got an 02 Mk4 Golf, the problem is when the indicator stalk returns to
off on completion of a turn it very occasionally flashes the opposite light
on the dash.
I've have the springs on the stalks strengthened to no avail and had the
whole stalk assembly replaced under warranty.
Anyone out there heard of this happening?

Gas conversion for '00 Passat 1.8 20v? by
::jola::
Hi,
Does anybody know if it's possible to convert a '00 Passat 1.8 SE 20v to
LPG? If so, does anyone know where I can get it done and what sort of price
I'm looking at?
I'm sick and tired of seeing that fuel needle move so fast!
Ta much.

GTI dashboards? by
Richard Kilpatrick
Hi, just dropping in from one of the other uk.cars groups.
I've got a question about my Golf GTI. It's a 1990 Mk II 5dr with big
bumpers, and appeared to be reasonably original. I'm a little suspicious
of it now, as I'd been going to sell it, and I've discovered the speedo
is wrong!
The rest of the dash seems correct - the rev counter redlines at 6.250,
the MFA computer is right, the...

Bought a new VR6 and have a few questions by
John Lucas
Have just bought a VR6. It has 127k so was cheaper (I think) at £3300. Had
to put a radio on it and a new alarm system as the old immobilsier had been
bridged out.
I'm happy with the car, but I think it is misfiring at some point, it sounds
a bit 'up and down' at higher revs. Any ideas, and where should I get it
tuned etc?
Is there a Haynes manual for the car? I read a posting that said there...

Golf IV Dash Lights. by
Gussie Finknottle
To save me looking a 'T' at the dealership,... please could someone
check to see whether the manual aircon dials in the centre console of
an '02 1.8T should be backlit. Thought mine used to be,... but they're
not now.
Also,... if they are meant to be backlit, are the bulbs easy to change
or is it best to return to the dealer; only ask because recently had
to remove the front bumper to change a...

It goes great, but every so often, usually on a long run, it burbles

Cu stop by the wayside for a few minutes and them start and drive

Non-idling 8V GTI (Simos ECU) by
The Admiral
Hi All...
I posted a message last week about a 1995 8V Golf GTI that would only run
when held on the throttle. As soon as the throttle was released it would die
again. I've managed to get the car back home now, and in my first 2-minute
investigation I put the key in the ignition, and turned to the first
position before turning the engine. I heard a lot of servo-type clicking
from the...

Spigot rings by
JustinClarke
I have a MkII GTI which has alloys from a Renault Clio. (It was like that
when I bought it). This causes me problems because the hubs on my car are
57.1mm but the wheels are 60.1mm bore.
Does anyone know of somewhere I can get spigot rings to make these wheels
fit?

Golf 4motion Door Speakers by
ROB
Can anyone tell me the size for replacement door speakers front & rear on a
2001 golf V6 4motion.
the car used to belong to Bass-Junkies but when he sold the car he ripped
out all his system & left me with some cheap nasty speakers & cassette
player !
please beware if you ever have an install done by this company
They "for some reason" cut off all the connectors behind the dash & used

Polo blue lenses fail MOT! by
Tunafish
My mums MK4 Polo failed it's MOT on it's blue rear lenses. Apparently on the
test sheet there's a heading 'Rear reflectors' as aren't any there the
tester put 'missing'. This is strange since it passed it's first MOT last
year at the main dealer where my mother bought the car with the same
lenses!! Anyone know what the law actually says on this subject - my
brothers split screen camper passed...

TDI Engine & transmission layouts in VW / Audi bays ( whats' compatible with what ? ) by
Ebodski
Hi I've got a 251000 mile 93 Audi 80 TDI-90hp which is running sweet...circa
650+miles per tank.
I want a 97 Passat TDI-110-SE but I'm still waiting for more high mileage-
but genuine TDIs to become available cheap ( under £3k ), so in the meantime
I'll keep the Audi and drive with my fingers crossed in case the
turbo/fuelpump or cat fails.
I thought the only VW/Audi's that had a longitudinal...

Passat questions by
KotF
I've just bought a Passat 1.8 SE Estate - a major upgrade from my previous
vehicle which had no electronic gizmos of any kind. I need to charge the
battery - if I remove it will this affect the alarm/central locking or the
radio (I have the code)? Can I actually lock the car with the battery
removed? Probably dumb questions but this is all a bit new to me.

Bilstein Streetline - any good? by
RJH
I noticed the streetline kit on europarts for about £200, springs and shocks
for a Golf 2 GTi. Anyone tried them? Any good? I didn't really want to lower
the car, but 40mm doesn't seem too much unless it mucks up clearance.

Fire! by
doddy
Hey
My mate's 2000 Polo went on fire last night:
http://www.alandodridge.co.uk/burnt/burn1.jpg
He has no idea what caused it - just came back to the car and it was
full of smoke. The car is just over warranty by 6 months. He's not
sure if VW will admit fault and cover damages.

MkII Golf recall by
JustinClarke
I was talking to someone a few days ago who asked if my GTI had been
recalled years ago. Something to do with the heater matrix, I think.
Ive only had the car for a few months and the previous owners have done some
strange things so I have no idea whether they would have taken it back when
this recall was announced.
Can anyone help with info about what the recall involved. How can I tell if

1987 Jetta steering problem by
K Hollingworth
Hi there!
I own a 4sp 1987 Jetta 1.3 which has developed a bit of a problem with its
steering. When you steer left, regardless of how much steering you put on
there is a squeal which sounds like it comes from the left-hand wheel. I
have also noticed a vibration which I think must be feeding back through
the steering because my passenger didn't notice it.
Any ideas? Is it likely to be...
