Tdi out VR6 in by Khamelion
At some point in the future, most likely next year now, I am going to start looking at transplanting my Tdi engine for a VR6 engine and all the ancillary componenets. Nothing to bad in that perhaps. But my Tdi is a 97 Mk3 Estate. I'm busy modding the car. Okay not everyones cup of tea I understand but I would like to drop a VR6 engine in. I don't think many people, if any have a VR6 Mk3 estate.

VR6 Prices by Adam Smith
Hi, I have a 3dr Black P 97 Golf VR6 with 43000 Genuine miles FVWSH etc etc. I have had it nearly 4 years and it is immaculate. Now there is another member just been added to the family and the car just got to go. Firstly is there a good market for VR6 Golfs at the moment, there does not seem to be many good quality ones about and so thought that would demand a

Passat driver (rant) by Barry
Hi rant Bloody buggering Passat turbot (plffftft) driver decided it would be funny today to go slow on the entrance to the slip road. I'm talking 25mph here. Not wishing in anyway to be held up, I pulled out and went to overtake. Then the 'novice' put his foot down and decided to match my speed to the entrance of the motorway. I backed off, so did he. I put my foot down again (all the way this...

Golf Gti Mk 3 - Performance characteristics of a wet blanket by Stevieshutts
After being nagged and nagged by a wife with an insistence on a car with power steering, I sold my lovely old Mk 2 Gti and bought a Mk3. Whilst it is a nice enough car with lots of bells and whistles (leather, electric everything and, of course, power steering), and I rather like the look of it, it has less power and torque than the average sewing machine. When I bought the car, it was in...

Clutch problem Golf 3 by The Admiral
Hello y'all! 8V GTI 1996. I replaced the gearbox a few months back. At the time, I noticed that the clutch pedal/biting point was quite low, although I had replaced the clutch at the same time as the 'box (might as well),

Golf Gti Mk 3 - Performance characteristics of a wet blanket by Sergey Vizgunov
Hello Stevieshutts. 04 Oct 03 22:56, you wrote to all: S Has anyone any suggestions on how best to improve the performance of these S things. It's a 2.0, 8 valve engine in a 1992 car with a catalytic S constrictor. Mk3 2.0 8v (engine code 2E) is crap, it's only 115 HP compared to lighter Mk2 with 109 or 136 HP.

Scirocco idling/starting problem report by Mark S.
Well left my car over night at the local garage and surprise surprise it started and ran fine according to them. What's the betting it doesn't in the morning for me? ;-) Is it just me or are garages rubbish at fixing stuff that isn't "broken". ie. they replaced the front dampers no problem but it rang perfectly for them. Being cynical I'd say they don't know what it is so said it was ok...

Boot light switch on Bora by Dave
Does anyone know where the boot light switch is on a Bora? Mine seems to stick which causes the car to lock itself again after 30 seconds if only the boot is opened. If the boot is still open after the car has locked and the light then comes on, the alarm goes off! I've looked down past the striker bar and don't see anything so I'm thinking it's in the lock mechanism. Anyone know where? Also,...

Golf Mk2 gti instrument panel problem by woodlouse
Looking through the various golf forums on the net it seems that that many people have the same problem with their Motometer instruments in that , like mine, the rev counter and MFA pack up. However, no one ever seems to know the cause of the problem or how to fix it. The usual suggestion is to get a s/hand one from a scrapyard or a new one (at over £300). I manged to get a VDO unit from a...

Scirocco Scala 1.8 Carb Idling/Firing by Alastair Brunton
Hi, Im trying to diagnose 2 problems with my 1988 Scirocco Scala 1.8 Carb. They may be related. Hopefully someone has some suggestions about possible problems so I can save time and money. Problem 1 When cold starting, the engine starts no problem but then after a second or two immediately stalls unless applied with accelerator. The engine does not rev properly but pulses. vr6 second gear by imtiaz
I have a '98 Jetta VR6 (South African release VR6) which is giving me a slight problem with the 2nd gear. When changing, and taking the time to change from 1st to 2nd, it seems to slide in perfectly. When changing much faster from 1st to 2nd, it "grinds" quite a bit. Could this be the synchro that's causing the "grinding"?
