Throttle body heater for Pierburg 2E2 by Mike
Hi My MkII Golf Pierburg 2E2 carb needs a new throttle body heater. I've tried Gower and Lee and Fuel Parts who both said 'oohhh I've not see one of those for a while...you'll be lucky' kind of thing. I should imagine that most scrap merchants would rather I bought the whole carb...although I'd be please to hear otherwise. Anyone any other suggestions? Cheers

VW Golf MKII 1.6 Driver cabin heating only works for so long by N.Jowsey@leeds.ac.uk
I posted a query asking why the above was happening a few weeks ago. Suggestions came back indicating it was the non-return valve fitted on a recall safety modification for the heater matrix. This was indeed the case. My valve had 'tripped' and it's not resettable. Fitting a replacement one from a scrappers fixed the problem! Thanks guys. I now have a toastie warm car for the *whole* of the...

Americans by Joe
Been on an american board recently, was reading them all talking about replacing rotar's as well as the brake pads. Wondered what the hell they were going on about as i'd never heard of a rotar being used in the braking process, realised today they mean brake disc's :) They also don't believe in replacing them unless their warped apparently.

Help, buying a Passat tomorrow by D
Already put down a small deposit but reading here and on honestjohn.co.uk is making me worried that I've made a wrong choice. It's a Passat S 1.9 TDI (115), built in June 2000 and done 46,000 miles with full VAG history. What's the thoughts in this group, am I just asking for a whole lot of heartache and big bills? Cheers

Bora front indicator bulbs by Dave
I thought this was going to be easy! Trying to change the front indicator bulbs on our Bora, I cannot get the bulb holder out. Is it a twist and pull action or is there something more complicated. I can't believe it can be so hard - all the other front bulbs are easy to change. Thanks Dave

Help please gear shift probs by AstraMan
Just got a mkII golf with 1.8 engine, getting gears is a nightmare especially coming down the box. There is nothing wrong with the clutch, its just getting the right alignment before you push it in? The rods / ball n sockets between lever and box are little slack but I've seen worse, how do you set these up. On vauxhalls you stick a drill in a little hole in box, slacken all connectors, select...

stalling problem from cold start by Al
Hi, 88 Scirocco Scala 1.8Carb, starts fine from cold - revs around 1100rpm. During the first 5 mins of run the idle rpm raises to 1500 - 1800 rpm and slowly decreases over the next 5 mins. This suggests that the stepper motor is still engaged?, is this normal? Anyway, after about 10mins of running when the engine is disengaged it stalls. After the car is started again there are no problems and...

Recommendation for Audi Service (Surrey UK) by Iain Miller
Couldn't find an Audi group so thought I'd ask here.... My Wife's 1996 1.8 A4 Avant is coming up for its annual service & is also close to 80K miles which I think means a cam belt change. Not happy with the local authorised dealer who have irritated & tried to over-charge me over one or two things on this car & also my Passat (which I've stopped taking there). My Passat has been going to another...

Brake discs and pads by Joe
Exactly how much is too much wear, I've chucked my golf MkIII in for the discs and pads on the front to be changed as there is a millimetre lip on the disc, and the pad is about a centimetre in width. After having the back end run away from me and myself having to compensate by throwing the front left and right i've been worried about my saftey. Just so you know my car isn't ****e, it was a...

Safety Recall by Mike
Just curious to know VW got my details from to send me the letter about the recall regarding the problem with the brake vacuum pipe. Letter begins "the constant monitoring by VW of cars in service" - well I never bought it or I've never had it serviced at a VW garage Just wondered what lengths they went to and is this standard practice for other makes when you buy second hand and have...

Cut through type are thin and break easily. Indented are much thicker and hold better.

Seat Cordoba Clutch by Steve Dunn
Hi, The clutch on my Cordoba feels horrible. It feels sluggish coming back up, and it's just started slipping. Is it easy to replace the cable? How much does it cost to fix? I'm thinking of doing it myself, but I'm not sure how involved it is. Any help appreciated,
