Dear all, Just tried to start my Golf MkIV 1.6 16v and it's sounding like it's running on three cylinders. It's also smoking and is more difficult to start. Also the check engine light is constantly lit. Anyone know if the dreaded coil pack problem that is plaguing larger VAG engines affects this engine as well or is it likely something else? TIA Matt.

Finally pull the end cover off my 95 Corrado 02A gearbox to have a look at the 5th gear mechanism which has been getting more and more difficult to engage. To my surprise I found that the 2 little metal bits that engage in the synchro ring groove and move it to engage/disengage the gear are completely worn. The wear means the synchro ring doesn't move far enough to fully engage the gear, or not...

hi all, i dont know how technically minded you lot are in here but - my sis's '97 1.9 tdi sharon has developed a fault - it wont start. all heater plugs are in good condition and glow the correct shade of red when powered up but there's no power getting to them when the ignition is turned on. the heater light illuminates then instantly goes off which points to it being a relay/timer fault....

I set the raio to use TP, but cannot turn it back off again. Each time I use the CD / Radio I still get the TP interruptions. Anyone know how to turn it off? PS Pressing TP again does nothing

I have recently purchased a 1989 VW Golf that has a Foxguard FG1 system fitted but only one of the 2 supplied radio remotes works and as this one is becoming a little unreliable I'm getting worried! I've asked everywhere locally and apparantly the 2nd remote has lost it's "pairing" with the system but nobody seems to know how to re-program it into the system! Can anybody out there help...

Has anyone got any top tips for getting a folding (flic key) remote keyless entry unit for my sharan without paying the £130 VW want to set one up? Could I buy a secondhand one and then get the blade, transponder and remote re-programmed? I've already got one but only the one key thanks daniel yates
