MK2 1.6 Ryder Misfiring when cold by
miniminsh
Hi
My Mk2 1.6 Ryder was recently running ok apart from being a bit heavy
on fuel, which I was told was because my Carb is on its way out. i was
recently driving the car when my fan belt snapped and ran away. As I
didn't realise straight away I drove for about 3-4 miles without a fan
belt and realised when the engine started to overheat. Luckily I had a
spare which I fitted then and there and all...

Hello,
I was wondering when the new Passat R36 would come on the market?
Last year I was told it would come around April of this year, but since then
I haven't heard about it anymore.
Does someone know more?
Greetings,

Motorola Alternator by
will
Can anyone tell me where to fix the B+ supression capacitor to the
alternator body?
Recently had cause to look under the bonnet and found that the
capcitor was just hanging by the wire which attached to the B+ blade
terminal (n.o. 3 in this image:
http://www.vintagewatercooleds.com/tech/Techtips/Timbotechnotes/alter...)
I presume that it should affix somewhere under the black plastic
housing, but...

VR6 engine issue by
jakes
I have a 2001 Jetta VR6, my check engine light went on last night (sat).
Probably not a good sign. Today I was filling the gas tank and also under the
hood filling the washer fluid. I heard a noise that sounded like a
percolating coffee maker. Anyone have any ideas on what I might be in for??
Tomorrow's Monday and I'll have to take it in, but hoping for ideas of what
it might be. Thanks!

Golf MK5 105bhp TDI Hesitation / Whirling Noise by
Matt
Hi all,
Noticed an intermittent whirling noise when in neutral and idle
running on my Golf '04 MK5 TDO 105bhp. There is also sometimes a
slight judder when this happens as if the revs were dropping (though
the revs do not drop).
Looking around on the net I found this quote on Honest Johns website
"On 1.9 TDI 105s both a clutch release bearing fault and a hesitation

Golf 2.0 Oil Consumption by
Richard Dungan
Hi, all.
I'm not a regular visitor to this group, but I wonder if anyone has any
thoughts:
I have a 2002 VW Golf 2.0 estate. Regularly serviced, mostly used on
occasional long journeys. Now has about 35000 miles.
It burns oil at an alarming rate. I reckon about 1200 miles per litre,
more if driven fast. The VW dealer says that VW allow an oil consumption

VW Connectors by
Lyndon C
Does anybody here (in UK Hopefully) know where you can obtain some
Connectors used on these "TDI Tuning Chips" that plug into the fuel temp
sensor and give an extra 25-30 BHP as I would like to make one of my own but
a little more sophisticated using variable electronics rather than a fixed
resistor !
Any help would be appreciated.

Overheating...Update. by
Mandie @k@ Zepherous
New waterpump, still overheating, the blower is heating up just fine and all
hoses hot except the bottom radiator hose.
What next? Airlock , or thermostat.
I'm guessing it's an airloack as the first overheat was the day after the
coolant was renewed.
The second overheat was after the new waterpump and again renewing the
coolant.

caravelle t4 clatter when cold by
Keith Barrett
Just picked up a 1997 caravelle with about 120,000 miles.
Notice that when starting from cold, a fair bit of noise, an uneven
clattering type of sound.
Is this normal for this type of engine?
After about 5 minutes, it goes away and is quiet from then on.

Help...Overheating. by
Mandie @k@ Zepherous
Volkswagen CL Umwelt TD Estate. 1.9 AAZ engine 1998 S reg.
Emptied cooling system yesterday. Refilled using the recommended antifreeze.
Today after driving around 15 miles the car overheated, smoke from bonnet,
kind of burning smell. Shut off straight away and called the RAC, they
arrived after about 45 minutes by which time things had cooled down. He said
he wasn't sure but thinks it...

T reg 1.6 Polo CL Driveshaft by
ratman and bobbin
Investigating an unusual rattle from the front of the car I discovered that
the driveshaft had sheared where the nut fits to hold the brake disk.
Whether through over tightening or not I dont know as I have never
maintained this car. So the drive shaft needs replacing ... any comments on
whether this is a DIY task and the potential difficulties of doing this
myself?
