Speakers for Mk2 Golf - update by
RJH
Thanks to those who replied to my post about this. Ended up with some
Infinity 3002cf and 6402cf from www.planetaudio.co.uk - a *vast* improvement
over the originals, which had more or less fallen apart after 16 years.
Clear sound (slightly bright), goes loud and reasonable bass - not much can
be expected from the speaker size as it is.
I was hoping they'd be a straight swap, but the rears...

water pump bolt problem by
pjy
The lower of the 3 water pump bolts on my Mk2 Golf has snapped off in the
block. I've tried drilling it out but failed due to the awkward angle. Does
anybody have any ideas - ie other ways to remove the bolt , or whether it's
possible to secure the pump another way eg with some kind of sealant or
locking solution ?
Thanks

Replacing MK3 TDi fuel injector pump by
tom w
Hi,
I've been trying to get to the bottom of a lack-of-power problem with my Mk3
Golf GL TDi, and after replacing the air flow meter, a sticking cutoff valve
and running some heavy duty diesel injector cleaner through it, still no
luck. My local VW dealer claims the problem is with the fuel injector pump,
and has quoted best part of £1300 for replacing this with a new one. I have
done some...

crack tested by a mate) will the 8v gti cam fit in it? what about the
dizzy? also know where there is a pair of twin 40s on a an 8v gti

Engine Overheating - MkII Golf 1300 by
Chris
This seems a rather odd one - sometimes when driving the Golf (Mk2
1300), the heater doesn't blow out hot air even when the engine is
warm. Then the temperature creeps up further to critical levels
forcing me to stop by the side of the road. A quick look under the
bonnet reveals the fan going full pelt.
Then, after restarting the car, tons of hot air is being blown out and
the temperature...

High Mileage Golf ..Odometer 'Feature' by
Coracle
A colleague of mine has a 'H' reg petrol 1.4 Golf (MKIII?) owned from new,
which has just clocked up an unbeleivable 303,000 miles on original engine,
clutch & gearbox.
One thing he mentioned was that when the odometer rolled over from
299,999.99 it reset to zero.
Has anyone else mad enough to run a Golf this long seen this 'feature'?

T4 blue smoke problem by
milltech
I have a 50,000 mile 2.5 ltr turbo diesel T4 camper van in generally good
order, year 2000 or 2001. Yesterday I got a mile down the road and spotted
blue smoke in my mirror.
1. Whether the engine is hot or cold the blue smoke does not appear for
the first mile or so, although you can smell it at the exhaust.
2. My local garage suggest three possibilities, oil seals on
turbocharger, on...

My MKIII Running rich?? by
VWGolf
Hello, I'm not really sure but I think my 97 Golf, 1.8l, 8v with 224,000 kms
is running too rich or something is wrong.
Some symptoms:
Tail pipe very black - When I clean it off, black comes back.
Smell of exhaust - no exhaust leaks, just fixed them.
Found previous owner gutted cat - Probably associated with exhaust smell?
Low gas mileage - 400 kms a tank
Plugs get fouled very easily - Just...

VR6 by
Dan Keeley
Hi all,
I'm hoping to return to the VW world after an all too long absence :)
I've found a Vr6, but it has 200k miles on the clock. Apparently at 130k it
had a new head and lots of other stuff done, it's all fully serviced, but is
it reaching the end of it's life? Or will it pull on for a while yet?
Thanks!
