VW Polo Electric window problem by
John C
2001 VW Polo SE 1.4
The passenger electric window is playing up, when you press the switch to
lower the window as soon as you let go the window closes again, sometimes
the window opens on its own, and sometimes it gets stuck down other times it
works fine.
The electric window switches on the passenger door and the one on the
drivers door have been replaced, the spring and parts that are...

Rear washer jet on 2001 Polo by
Nick
Rear washer jet on my 2001 Polo hasn't worked for months. The pump sounds
healthy when it's triggered, but absolutely zilch appears on the rear
windscreen. Tried unblocking the jet outlet on the rear wiper-blade
arrangement, but to no avail.
No obvious debris in the washer fluid tank, though it's difficult to tell
what's at the bottom without removing it (which looks like it'll take...

Driver 1.6 carb probs by
Rob C
Had a bit of prob with my G reg 1.6 Driver. Its taken to losing power
at speed on the motorway.its as if the choke kicks to full, the fuel
guage impersonates a leming and the only temp solution in the fast
lane of rush hour traffic is is to dip the clutch and rev it HARD 'til
it clears.
I've been told there could be two probs,
1. hot air feed to the inlet has a valve that ocasionally can taken...

Water Leak Problem by
joncha
My 84 GTI 8V is leaking radiator water from the rear of the engine block. The
leak is not from a blown head gasket, but seems to be coming out of one of a
series of holes (indents?), about 4cm in diameter, below where the head joins
the block. Anyone have any ideas where the water is coing from?
Thanks Joncha

Slightly OT: LPG Anyone use it? by
Lenmeister
Hi all,
I've been thinking of switching to a car that runs this stuff as an
alternative to getting another TDi, so:
Anyone got any views on this stuff?
Does a conversion affect a car's reliablilty (Presuming it's a tidy
conversion job)?
What sort of performance hit do you get?
Have people found it's worth their while?
Thanks in advance,

Throttle Body potentiometer? by
Dr Gonzo
Evening all
I visited a friend in Gosport (Hampshire) this afternoon which allowed me to
clear the cobwebs out of my mk3 1.8GL on the M3 and M27, which i think did
it some good as i've only been doing short journeys of late. On my return up
the M27 and M3 all was going well until i came off the motorway and drove at
a steady 30mph, and after about 10 minutes of travelling at this speed...

Central locking fault by
Dean Lockey
Hi,
I have recently bought a Mk3 Golf GL, and there seems to be a fault with the
central locking. It has a tendancy to only work occasionally and when it is
working if i then go and switch on the ignition and turn it off again it
stops working?
I have tested the microswitches on the doors by testing to see if they send
a pulse to the pump in the boot, and both doors seem to work okay....

Golf mark IV door handles by
almonza
Hey,
I have a silver 1999 Golf TDI which doesn't have the colour coded door
handles (exterior), question is can they be got for the car and fitted with
the same locks as on the car already, or can the locks be seperated from the
black handle and put onto the colour coded one;s? If so does anyone know
how long and how hard it is to do? also if someone knows a web site that
would be great. Just...

Corrado electrical niggle by
It Wasn't Me
Hi people,
I have been the proud owner of a Corrado G60 for the past couple of months and I have had a smile on my face ever since......I
really love this car!!!
However, there is a minor niggle. When the car is cold everything is fine but when the engine warms up the speedo needle and rev
counter needle flicker. Not all the time mainly when I indicate or switch something electrical.
I assume...

golf driver 1.6 idling problems by
Stephen McAleer
I've just bought a 1991 1.6 golf driver (manual). The idle speed varies
between 1250 revs and 2000 revs. Switching the lights, heated rear
window etc can lower the revs by about 250 but it is still idling very
high. I've checked the choke flap and it is about 1/4 open. The pushrod
3/4 point unit on the left of the carb is not making contact with the
lever.
I've also discovered that the...

Golf MK4: Gearbox + c/locking issues by
AS
I have just bought my first VW last week - its (mainly) for my wife, I
have an Audi A4 (partly the reason that we stayed in the VW family
when buying a second car).
It is a MK4, 2000 (X) 1.6 SE. It has been religiously serviced by the
only previous owner. There are 15,000 miles on the clock and there are
reciepts for 4 VW services at approx 4000 mile intervals.
I am very happy with it apart...

Golf TDi rough running by
Dazza
Hi,
I have a 99 Golf TDi 110 which I'm happy with.. however, when I slow down,
the engine starts 'yo-yoing' ie the revs are pulsing, even with the clutch
in. Once the car has stopped, it ticks-over ok.
Any ideas please?
TIA

Sharan gearing by
Bolly
I had a 96 Sharan VR6 since January. One of the first things i noticed was,
the power of the engine was wasted by revving way too high in 5th around
70mph, as if ready for a 6th gear. I took a closer look and found the
gearing for 5th somewhat strange.
Plotted it he

1083cc Mk1 Scirocco? by
Del The Obscure
Hello,
While waiting an eternity in my doctor's surgery this morning, I was
flicking through an old copy of Practical Classics that happened to be
there and it had an article comparing the Scirocco 'first v. last'
It mentioned that it was originaly fitted with a 1083cc engine?
If so, wa sit ever imported in to the Uk or made in RHD for any
market? Nothing comes up on Google for Scirocco...
