1994 Golf CL 1.8 - improve performance? by
Angus Manwaring
Hi all,
I have just bought a 1994 Golf 1.8 CL.
I'm generally very happy about it (given the money I had to spend) but it
has to be said that the performance/acceleration seems a bit unimpressive.
After looking around on the web it appears that the CL 1.8 produces 75 bhp
as opposed to the 1.8 GL which is 90 bhp - ......I think.

VW digital mileometer reset? by
Mr Lovebuckets Exploding Tonic Water
Hi,
My Corrado g60 speedo has a fault and I have the chance of a secondhand replacement. The replacement has a digital mileometer, like
the original, but the replacement has done over 100K and my car has only done 77K.
My question is..Can the replacement be reset to show 77K?
I don't want to deceive anyone, as I have no intention of selling the car for a good few years, but I don't really want to...

mk2 gti 2.0? by
KavvY
I have a chance to buy a run out edition 8v Mk2 Gti 2.0 with 75k on the
clock, its quite expensive and I was wondering about the 2.0 engine, did
they fit an engine of this size towards the end?
Also what would be the going rate for this? There is some work done
recently, all round disks n pads and a recon gearbox, all round condition is
supposed to be excellent, I haven't viewed yet as the...

VW Lubrication Service - what do they do? by
Paul Hutchings
Probably a silly question but having just had the 30k lube service done on
a 2002 Golf 1.4, the ticks are in the service book but I don't know what
they've actually done other than change the oil/filter - can anyone shed
any light?
It was done under a maintenence plan where I paid about £240 when I bought
the car to cover the first three sevices, if I'd had to pay for it as a one
off I...

need help with receiver on 95 golf by
lilmissgiggles
I just had a Kenwood receiver (KDC-X679) installed in my 95 VW Golf, and it
works fine when the car is sitting in the driveway, but once I drive off the
unit keeps flicking on and off (especially when attempting to listen to the
radio). any idea what is causing the problem or what I can do to fix it?? I
can take it back to future shop where it was installed, but that is a bit of
a pain at the...

2000 Polo 1.0 poor fuel economy by
richard
Right now I've sorted the problem with the handbrake.......The fule economy
is poor. No I am not driving with the handbrake on!! The car's running OK
but I have had the spark plugs out and it seems to be running very rich.
With engine management I don't know what I can do about this if anything.
The car has done 50000 miles.
Any ideas appreciated.
Richard.

Darn! My dipstick's knackered! by
Angus Manwaring
Hi all,
I've just got my '94 Golf CL and the garage gave it a full service before
I collected it.
I thought I'd check the oil though, being a cautious sort.
Unfortunately the dipstick is broken.
It has an orange plastic handle, and as I understand it, there is an orange

Corrado 12v supply by
gee920
Hi there,
I'm looking to improve the 12v supply to my vdo voltage gauge in my 1990 VW
Corrado. I'm currently using the switched supply for the heater blower.
Could anybody tell me where to find a good switched supply? Is there one on
the back of the fuse box and if so, where to find it.
Many thanks,
G

Golf Mk 3 car alarm by
Angus Manwaring
My recently aquired 1994 Golf Mk 3 CL has got a car alarm fitted in it,
but the alarm only came with one remote key (and an instruction sheet).
I've never had a remote central locking/car alarm device before and given
that you are supposed to get 2 remotes and 2 alarm disable keys, I'm a bit
wary of using it in case I lose the remote or the battery fails. On top of
this the remote connects to...

LunnBelleyetere
Hi all. I have just developed a fault with my transporter while on holiday. The

Golf Diesel Cat Problems. by
Ken Booth
Has anyone ever had any problems with a CAT blocking ? Mine car was of the
road for 8 weeks and soon after starting to use it again it soon lost power.
I narrowed it down to an exhaust blockage and looking at the cat it was
mostly blocked with the black waxy tar you get in inlet manifolds on a
Diesel. I have used several tins of fuel additive and long runs and it seems
much better but is the a...

1995 Passat GLX by
Richard Soubyran
Hello all,
after some 90K miles I decided to change my rotors, back and front.
Not such a big of a deal... except for one question that sorries me...
I remove the ABS ring from the old rear rotors and put them on the new
one.Taking it off was fairly easy. I took a brush, cleaned it and once on
the new rotor, the ring was loose as opposed to nicely and firmly stuck on
the old rotor.

TDI: air bubble(s) in fuel line OK or not? by
Brian Hall
OK, now I am irked at my dealership. I had the 20K service done, and
the fuel filter replaced. After getting the car back, I noticed a hesitation
or stuttering when first starting the car. After waiting a week and a half
for it to clear up, I took it back to the dealer, thinking the problem was
the air bubbles I could see in the diesel fuel line. The bubble is
bigger if the car sits...

Passat V6 Syncro, idle slow and stalling by
Steve Pardoe
Hi, all,
I'm a newbie here, but I have checked Google groups.
My Passat V6 Syncro (6-yr old, 102,000 miles) has recently had its water
pump changed (another story!) and since then the idle has become very slow,
and the engine sometimes stops when you come to a halt (eg at traffic
lights) or even when changing gear while slowing down (very inconvenient, as
the power steering also stops).

Clutch pedal clicking on MKII GTI by
Phatman
Hi,
I've noticed my clutch pedal makes a click when I bring the pedal back up -
it seems to come near the bottom of its travel. It's like it's catching or
something, anyone else experienced this? Car is a '91 Golf GTI.

Golf Mk5 Armrest by
Martin
I'm thinking of buying an Ex Demo Golf Mk5, but unless you go for the GTi's
all other models do not come with the arm rest.
The arm rest is only available on the price list as a factory fitted option,
but can anyone tell me if this can be fitted after the car has left the
factory?
Thanks
Martin

Bleeder Screw by
VW Golf Cart
Where would I find a bleeder Screw for my Front Caliper.
I was almost finished bleeding my brakes, was on my last caliper, driver
side front, when she wouldn't open. In trying to get her to turn, I
stripped the bolt/screw.
I guess I could try and heat the thing and get it off that way, but I want
to replace the screw so this doesn't happen in the future.
Are these bleeder Screws universal?

Passat V6 Syncro, water pump replaced at 102,000 miles by
Steve Pardoe
Hi, all,
I'm a newbie here, but I have checked Google groups.
My Passat V6 Syncro (6-yr old, 102,000 miles) has recently had its water
pump changed after failing while on holiday in Italy. What's really
irritating is that the toothed and multi-V belts, damper / tensioner etc
also needed to be replaced, even though I'd had the standard toothed belt /
pulley change at the scheduled 80,000 miles...
