Immobilizer Woe. Help Required by richard
2000 Polo has encountered a strange problem. I think it is to do with the immobilizer. The car has had no previous starting problems but after a stall in reverse the other day and upon turning the key to restart the starter motor failed to kick in. I have had the starter checked and it is fine there is also good electric supply to it but the problem persists each time you turn the key you get...

92 Golf, Plastic cap near bellhousing? by Tim Guy
Just changing the oil and filter on my 1.8 92 driver. I was looking around the engine pay and can see a white plastic hex cap which should sit in a green plastic surround which goes into the bellhousing. I thought it might be for the gear box fluid but it doesn't look like oil has ever been poured down it. I've checked the Haynes manual and although I still cant find the gear box

More Rear Light Cluster weirdness by Angus Manwaring
Thanks again for the help on the strange behaviour from my Golf's lights and indicators, I thought it was pretty much sorted, but I'm now a bit baffled. At no point was I able to get my front fog lights working, but the back ones were okay - I thought..... My mistake was only monitoring the drivers side rear fog light, on a closer inspection, there wasn't even a bulb in the rear passengers...

lights, indicators, brakes..... CLUSTERFLIP! by Angus Manwaring
My new (to me) Golf Mk 3 CL is going well, and I'm very happy with it, but I got a surprise last night regarding the electrics. It seems that if you brake while you are indicating, the indicators stop - until you release the brakes! Also, just to the right of the steering wheel is a foglight indicator, this glows (orange) whenever the brakes are pressed.

1993 Passat 2.0 CL revcounter dies, then engine by Bill Davies
A few months ago the revcounter needle dropped to zero while the engine was running normally, then came back up to the correct reading. It did this a couple of times while the engine was still fairly cold, then sorted itself out after a few miles. It was a cold damp morning so I put it down to condensation and thought no more about it. A few weeks later it happened again, similar circumstances....

Removing the steering column boss on a MKII GTI by Tunafish
Anyone got any tips on how to remove the steering column boss on a MKII GTI? The ignition switch has gone kaput and VW in their wisdom have designed it so you have to slide the ignition casting off the column to get the plastic switch out...doh! My 3 legged puller just keeps burring the edge of the sleeve - anyone tried using heat on this mutha?! I'm a bit relectant to go down this route because...

Removing Golf Mk 3 electric window by Dave Kennedy
I need to replace the motor and regulator assembly on the front near side door of my Golf Mk 3. Can anyone tell me how to start that when the window is fully up? The Haynes manual tells you to lower the wndow until the glass clamps are accessible, but you can't do that when the motor won't work! Any help would be much appreciated. Dave.

84 Caravelle Clutch and Other Woes by Caie
Hi all, My racing green 1984 VW Caravelle, which has been converted into a camper by Devon has been of massive amusement to my Memsahib and I since February. Since starting her up I've noticed that when pushing the accelerator much past halfway the revs seem much higher than the actual power I'm getting from the wheels as a result. I had put this down to the engine being at the rear and...
