Default Making a spare key help

A friend has a golf s 2001 which doesn't have remote central locking just a
key to open the door.

He asked me if I could make a spare key for him as it only came with one key
and the SKC (secret key code) code on a bit of plastic.

I have VAG COM 504 which I gather is what I need to do this ?

I guess the firts step would be visiting the dealer to buy a key first off,
getting it cut at Timpson or likewise. But before I do all of that I was
wondeirng if I can do this with just VAG COM.

Also I know it has an immobiliser chip in the key I think its the earlier
IMMOB2 not the IMMOB3 chip, is this sold with the key (wondering if anyone
has done this before)

Doing a bit of reaserch on it so would appreciate some information if this
is a do-able job for me.

VW want £140+vat today it.

Timpsons can supply and cut a key for you and can also 'clone' the
transponder chip !!

I asked in timspon about a month back and they checked my key and told
me its a dealer only job as the transponders has a rolling code or
something like that.

Will pop in there and ask again, incase things have changed.
