Default Skoda Octavia VRS

Hi

I have been looking to replace my Golf Diesel 90bhp and I have seen a Skoda
Octavia VRS with the PD engine. What do people think. Anything I should look
out for ? Its done 10,000 miles and is one year old.
Any comments. I dont know if there is a Skoda equivalent to this group
TIA Alan

Pop over to http://www.briskoda.net. Also, Dr Zoidberg or Silk might be
along in a minute. They have Octavias. I've got a Fabia vRS, which I'm
very happy with.

Have you ever tried/used VAG-COM on your Skoda?

Yep.

Works fine. For the later cars you need a CAN cable, but not for the Fabia.

Thanks Chris. Useful to know that is. A neighbour's got a TDi Skoda which
he's been having some grief with. Too skint to see the dealer so I'll do a
few logs/scans with VAG-COM to see what's up with it.
Cheers,
JB

I replaced my Golf 4 GT TDI with an Octavia 2.0 TDI in April last year. I've
done 15,000 miles without even needing a service yet (variable servicing).

All the usual VW options tend to be built in as standard, and build quality
is excellent. You just have to look beyond the badge.

Much bigger boot of course, and seems to have more legroom in the back as
well.

No equivalent newgroup that I have found, but the Briskoda discussion group
website is excellent.

What sort of grief? It's worth a look at http://www.tdiclub.com. The
chaps there know the TDI inside out.

TBH there's few here that will whinge about the other VAG brands being
discussed. There's no equivalent Seat group, but
http://www.seatcupra.net is a good source.

These days the brands have so much in common it's worth discussing here.

Already visit there often. By the sound of it he has MAF trouble. Easy
enough to confirm though.
