Default T4 transporter not starting, V. confused. Please help!

My VW T4 Transporter has began refusing to start. When I turn the key in
the ignition nothing happens whatsoever. All the dash lights come on and
the coil light goes out after the right sort of time but the engine isn't
turning at all. There had been problems with the battery to starter motor
cable in the past so I've replaced that but still nothing. Does anyone
have any ideas as to what could be causing this? Any help would be hugely
appreciated.
Cheers

Earth strap from body to engine/gbox? Starter solenoid?
Any sounds of clicking when you turn the key to start?

Cheers, I'll look into those. There's one quiet click initially when I turn
the key but nothing at all after that. Could the broken starter cable have
caused any damage to the other cable that runs into the starter?

Doubtful any damage caused.
Also the ignition switch can cause such problems too..

Look also at the (big) fuse connections. They are usally placed in a
seperate fusebox on the inner fender.

Had about the same problem and just tightning one fuse fixed it!

My VW T4 Transporter has began refusing to start.

Had exactly the same problem a while ago. Replace the relay with a big
'18' on top of it (it's in the fusebox to the right of the steeering
column).

Mine was clicking but not making contact, so didn't fire the starter
solonoid.

Dunno how much they cost as I had a couple of spare ones in my Big Box Of
Bits :-)

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I think I'll try the relay option first as
I guess it's probably the cheapest.
