Default Anything I should be aware of?

MkV Golf GTI 2005

Coming up to 24 month service.

I got a grinding noise from the power steering just started... anyone know
if this is common? ( not worried, as such, as it will be a warranty repair,
if required)

Not much of anything else to worry about other than that...anyone know of
common problems I should get checked?

Thanks

Accompanied by the sound of a chisel on slate

Try putting fluid in.

ABS wiring looms chafing; in fact, no. Just ask them what's right. Usually
easier with a Mk5.

I'd like to know how you'd do that......

I believe it's the same system as the Passat - which is electrically
assisted.

Is it? Well there ya go. Learn something new every day.

It's on a Mk5 Golf - something I'd never ever wish to own.

Are they really that bad? Even the GTIs?

The 1.9 TDI courtesy car I had was OK - just a bit basic. Drove well
enough, though.

Thanks for the FB chaps...

I've owned 2 Mk4's prior to the 5 GTI ... and I've had considerably less
issues with the 5 then I've had with the 4's. (1st 4 was German built 2nd 4
South African)

I believe the 5 is a very good car...but then again, thats probably
predictable

By the way the fluid is topped.. it was the 1st thing I had checked.

Thanks again one and all.
