MkV Golf GTI 2005
Coming up to 24 month service. I got a grinding noise from the power steering just started... anyone know if this is common? ( not worried, as such, as it will be a warranty repair, if required) Not much of anything else to worry about other than that...anyone know of common problems I should get checked? Thanks |

( not worried, as such, as it will be a warranty repair, if required) Try putting fluid in. Not much of anything else to worry about other than that...anyone know of common problems I should get checked? ABS wiring looms chafing; in fact, no. Just ask them what's right. Usually easier with a Mk5. -- Pete M - That Scouse Git - OMF#9 W&P Range Rover V8 Turbo Golf GTi 2.0 (Mk2 - proper one) Golf GTi Mk1 (For Sale) |

I'd like to know how you'd do that...... I believe it's the same system as the Passat - which is electrically assisted. -- SteveH 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa Romeo' www.italiancar.co.uk - Honda VFR800 - Hongdou GY200 - Alfa 75 TSpark Alfa 156 TSpark - B6 Passat 2.0TDI SE - COSOC KOTL BOTAFOT #87 - BOTAFOF #18 - MRO # - UKRMSBC #7 - Apostle #2 - YTC # |

Are they really that bad? Even the GTIs? The 1.9 TDI courtesy car I had was OK - just a bit basic. Drove well enough, though. -- SteveH 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa Romeo' www.italiancar.co.uk - Honda VFR800 - Hongdou GY200 - Alfa 75 TSpark Alfa 156 TSpark - B6 Passat 2.0TDI SE - COSOC KOTL BOTAFOT #87 - BOTAFOF #18 - MRO # - UKRMSBC #7 - Apostle #2 - YTC # |

It's on a Mk5 Golf - something I'd never ever wish to own. Are they really that bad? Even the GTIs? Thanks for the FB chaps... I've owned 2 Mk4's prior to the 5 GTI ... and I've had considerably less issues with the 5 then I've had with the 4's. (1st 4 was German built 2nd 4 South African) I believe the 5 is a very good car...but then again, thats probably predictable By the way the fluid is topped.. it was the 1st thing I had checked. Thanks again one and all. |
