Default Golf GTI MKIV Possible Broken Engine Mount

Hi all,

I'm purchasing a Golf GTI 1.8T W reg Mark 4 from Bradford and the
seller has told me that the Engine mount is possibly broken or on its
way out. (The Engine mount at the back of the engine).

I don't know much about golfs at all but I have driven a volvo from
Glasgow to London before and it survived the journey just fine.

Would driving a GTI from Bradford to London be a big risk to take?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Farrukh

Why not just ask the seller to get it fixed and you will pay him when you
collect the car?

ok, don't get if fixed. Drive to London, not forgetting picking up your
engine around Sheffield!
Or, don't buy the car. Golf's are like hookers, they are everywhere.
Unless you are getting this for an absolute steal, why take the risk?
Common sense if you ask me!

BTW, whilst you are picking up your car. Also check these common faults
with mk4 Golf's

Fans not working properly on cars with climate control - new rad fans needed
Dodgy MAF
Seized windscreen wipers
Rear washwipe not working (swipes, but no water)
Door locking module faulty (interior light does not come when doors opened)
Sagging doors on 3 door versions
Heated seats burn out (if fitted)

The above are very common on Golf's, my V6 had all of them!

Getting it for £2000 and going to fix it up and pass it on to my
brother. No point in attempting to drive it if it's gonna fall apart
all over the show!

What year is it? Mileage?
Cam belts need doing at 60k.

Get yourself a mate with a laptop and vag-com. Scan the car before buying.

It's a 2000 with 65K on the clock and full VW service history.

£2000 is cheap for that.....so cheap I would be wary.
