Default remote fob

I have a passat 2005 trendline the spec looks much the same as the TDI
in the manual it say's if you hold the lock or unlock button on the fob for
x number of seconds
the windows will all open but they don't, you can put the key in the door
and hold the
key over and that opens them as stated in manual.
I was wondering if it's an extra or my windows fob feature isn't working
correctly?

Could be that the battery in your fob is getting low so it loses power when
you hold it down. Is it working over the normal range??

Or it could be the setup in the car's electronics. You say it's the
Trendline model. Is this an import with subtle differences to the UK models
perhaps??

To open/close windows and sunroof is called something like comfort control
IIRC, its an option on some of the high end models I think. My VR6 had it,
but my Bora hasn't.

My A3 had it, the Fabia doesn't. There's rumors on seatcupra.net that
one some cars you can enable it with VAG-COM, or reprogram the control
unit (with different firmware?) with some other software.

Wow, that autowindow looks cool! I've seen many peeps on MKIV.net bemoaning
they haven't got auto closure/comfort control and importing something from
the US, only to find that their alarm ceases to work after installation -
even after disconnecting the kit !!
This might be just what they're looking for?

Chris
here's a piece about the trendline trim I must admit I didn't know
the difference between them it's clearly not the top of the range but still
not a bad spec.

I stand corrected!! I wondered if it was an European model (which have used
Trendline and Highline as model names for some years). But this is obviously
a special edition in the UK. I still wonder if the battery in the fob is
getting low though.

I have tried the second fob but same results I suspect the extra fob
features
are only pre-programmed on the highline although I have nodoubt that they
could be programmed or turned on in with the vw software at dealers.
I suspect they use the same chip set in all vw group cars vw audi etc.
but only set the top features in the more expensive models.

I am VERY tempted by one of these. Has anyone here got one, and is it as
good as it looks?

Having said it might just be what MKIV.net people are wanting, a quick
search on the site and I see many people have already fitted them!
