Hi, I've got a question which hopefully one of you guys will be able to
answer. I just purchased a 75k miles Nov 01 VW Golf 1.8T 150BHP. When I first got it I had a few problems but they were sorted by the dealer. However, I've just noticed a slight change in the "purr" of the engine. It used to emit a mid range sounding purr from when revving throug 1st to 4th gear (wasn't so audible in 4th) but now I only partially hear it in 2nd gear. I might be being paranoid but would rather fix issues now before a paranoia becomes a bigger more costly issue. The only things that were issues that the garage rectified which might be relevant a - air pipe which presurises the turbo needed replacing - one of the faults identified by the engine management system was an issue with the engine coils (this was checked but found not to be an issue) Additionally at the weekend I noticed a drop in power when switching from high rev'd 1st gear to 2nd gear. I've only noticed this once and despite trying to reproduce again over further 20 mins driving I couldn't (not conclusive I know - need more testing). Would appreciate if someone can let me know what I need to look at or check. I don't know much about under the bonnet things but if you point me at an area to look at, I can look it up in a book. Appreciate your responses or let me know where else this should be posted? Thanks |
