Normal metric nut sizes, but as you say, corrosion city. You may find the steel
lines give up on you, as they are probably rusted tight to the union nut. My son tried it while I was out of the country, and gave up before it became undriveable, and took it to a garage. Expect to change anything rusty anyway. Soak with plus-gas for a time. Not a lot of room for manoeuvre really - physically or metaphorically. -- Dave. UK VW Type 3 & 4 Club http://www.hallvw.clara.co.uk/ ------ "Antony Gelberg" wrote in message ... I'm replacing the rear rubber hoses on my Mk2 Golf. Like all car work, it's taking longer than it should. It's corrosion city, but still... I have a 14mm wrench on the flexi pipe. The nut for the solid pipe is too small for an 11mm wrench and too large for a 10mm wrench which seems odd. An adjustable wrench on it was predictably crap. I now have my trusty locking pliers on it, but no dice. Even those (my favourite tool) can't hold the nut still while I undo the other nut. Have I missed something? At the risk of permanent ridicule, is it a reverse thread? |
