I like the look of that golf Ronny, I miss my MK2 so much.
Can you tell me more about it? Is it digifant or otherwise? What, other than the handbrake cable, is it going to fail an MOT on? Why is there a lack of handbrake cable? If it has rear discs, the calipers can be a ******* and the handbrake mechanism goes stiff or seizes. What mileage, history etc? Are the original wheels available? |

"Chris" wrote in message ... "Ronny" wrote in message ... Doki, do you want another one? I know of a Mintish one just lapsed MOT H reg 400 quid. 17" rims not modded at all, bodywork is stunning, black, 2.0 8v needs handbrake cable, but drives fine. I got some pics if anyone else is interested. Ronny Pics http://www.wellcheap.com/gallery2/v/...bum/?g2_page=3 Damn! If I'd seen that yesterday evening I would've offered for that rather than the Civic VTi I just picked up. That looks real clean. Still available for £400? Chris - karenDOT christiaanAT btinternetDOT com (wondering how long it'll take to put VTi on ebay!) Yup still available Standard MK2 Golf GTI 8v - Black - no tax or MOT though, only just ran out, the guy whos car it is cba to **** about with it, so it's sitting on his drive. |

Near southend on sea, south essex. In a car with 85000 on the clocks but VW
service book says clocks replaced by VW at 14500 miles. FVWSH. £100 including G/box, inlet manifold, injectors, starter, alternator. Is a non-pas model. May need a new clutch but how easy is that to do once its out! Ran sweet as a nut, no noises or smoke. As far as i can see bog standard. plugs and distri cap removed but nothing else. Cant get rid of car till I have the O/S doors for my 16v and seems a shame to scrap such a good lump. Chris "Doki" wrote in message ... "Chris" wrote in message ... Got a decent '90 PB 8v lump lying around here doing nothing if you need it. Where and how much? |

"Doki" wrote in message ... The Golf's playing up. Must be because I've polished it. When the oil's warmed up to 80 odd or so, the oil pressure lamp comes on if the engine's allowed to idle. Rev it at all, and it goes back off. I've previously had the buzzer come on a couple of times during normal driving, (ie, above a couple of thousand revs, oil not stinking hot and not cornering like a loon) but it's always gone off after a second. Oil level is fine. Pointers on whether this sounds like oil pump, dodgy electronics or the bottom end of the engine dying would be nice. Swapped the pump today. The sump gasket had been attached with silicone sealant at and bits of sealant had gotten into the oil and were clogging the pump pickup. |

You wonder if the silicone was because someone was too tight to put on a new
gasket, or a belt and braces attempt to make sure it didn't leak. There should be no need for extra sealant there anyway, if the surfaces are suitably clean for the new gasket. Lucky you didn't block an oilway with it - hope it still won't. Pump pickup - the gauze bit, or the pipe itself? -- Dave. Pump pickup - the gauze bit, or the pipe itself? Sort of related.... A friend of mine has just his A4 back from the garage following his oil warning light coming on "here and there". After checking all the usual and finding no problems, they suspected the oil pickup (strainer). Unfortunately, on this model to get the sump off requires removing most of the front sub frame. Long story short, all's well that ends well - yes the pickup was heavily clogged/gummed up. Bit of a clean and all now fine. Someone |
