Default Passat interior lights

All the interior lights have stopped working on my 98 Passat (whether by
switch, door opening or whatever). I've checked the fuse (which is fine) -
not sure where to look next. The only other thing wrong with the car is that
some of the door locks no longer activate the central locking, and that one
door won't respond to the central locking. Could these problems be
connected?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

KotF

Might just be a bad earth/ground. On the other hand, check around the floor
& make sure there is no water/damp. If there is then its likely your CCM
(climate control module) is fried. VAG (in their infinite wisdom) located
this in the floor under one of the front seats.

Source of water will either be the from the sunroof drains being blocked (if
you have one) or possibly from the drains under the battery being blocked.
Check in the area round the battery & if you have several inches of water in
there then that's your problem. The sunroof drains are located near the door
hinges - rubber things with closed off/crimped ends - give those a good
squeeze & see if anything comes out.

rgds (and good luck!)

Iain

Hi Kenny,

Ian's earlier reply sounds about right, but it is unlikely to have
'fried' the 'CCM'. The 'auxiliary/comfort' computer under the drivers
side carpet controls just about every electrical system - with the
exception of engine management.

Check this thread for possibilities...

problems&rnum=1&hl=en#1f25efdfafdf4bdb

The water under the carpet has caused corrosion on the harness.

I have also read about a problem with the central locking controller in
the drivers door causing erratic central locking. I didn't go that route
simply because the range of faults I had all related to the one common
part of the system being that computer.
