Default Mod 1.8 Turbo to 180BHP?

I have a 1.8 T 2001 Golf GTI 150BHP and would like to know what the main
differences are
between this and the 180BHP 1.8Turbo found in the Audi TTs.? ie is possible
to mod my 150bhp
to 180bhp and cost involved ?
Thanks,
Sukhi.

Very little, I rem when I had my Mk4 1.8T andcame across a TT at some
lights, I was in the RH lane butwas going straight ahead (queue jumping I
know) , when the TT driver realised what was going on it wastoo late and
his extra 30BHP did nothing to help as we teared down an A road, beauty
with the MK 4 Golfs is there is little to give them away externally.

ie is possible

There are many companies that 'chip'cars but the proper 180bhp Golf is 6
speed and although my MK5 is 200 BHP I think it comes into it's own because
of the extra gearing.

Thanks for the reply Avanti.
Are you saying that there are no mechanical difference in the 2 engines,
just the chip ?

I don't know Dave is your man for that, the 1.8T engine is used in a lot of
vehicles though so is well proven, A3, A4 TT , Golfs Passats, Bora, Seat
and the forthcoming Polo GTI which looks remarkably like the Golf gti....

There are a staggering amount of minor changes that the 1.8T has but none are
really related to the power bar the size of the turbo K03, K03 sport and K04 and
the intercooler. You shouldn't have a problem getting 180bhp out of a 150, but
if you are looking for 200+ you should look to the K04 as an upgrade (someone
with a 225 TT or S3 may have one spare when they fit a big unit for 300+bhp).

IIRC there are 3 different port sizes in the heads, 2 types of water pump, VVT
and non VVT (it's only for idling emissions not performance) and the
sharan/Alhambra have an inlet manifold with the inlet on the other side. There
are more differences in the A4 platform ones as well with them being
longitudinally mounted.

There are lots of different versions of the 1.8T but the only thing that
really matters unless you're going for lots of power is the different turbo
sizes. 150bhp - K03, 180bhp - K03S & 225bhp - K04.
