Default Portable sat nav in Bora

Has anyone tried sat nav units with built in antenna such as Tom Tom
and Navman in a 2002 Bora?

Does the windscreen cut out signal and is an external antenna needed?

Or are there spots on or near the windscreen where such units will
work well? Thanks John

I have a Garmin C320 and it works excellent without an external antenna. It
very seldom drops satellites, only sometimes when driving in city between
high buildings.

I use an Acer N35 PDA stuck to the windscreen - fine, doesn't miss a beat.

I use an iPAQ with a Holux CF GPS and TomTom5. Never had an issue with any
of our cars. I loaned it to a neighbour and it worked fine in his Focus with
the heated windscreen.

I have a road angel and this worked fine in the MK4 Golf and works fine in
a MK5 Golf too, you should have no probs in the Bora

Many thanks for the various replies. Sounds OK so I'll try it.
