Default Rear window replacement

assuming it isn't a bonded screen...

working inside the car, carefully push the rubber seal around the flange it
sits on with a screwdriver. start in te middle at the top, ans slowly work
along to each edge then down the side. when you've got to the bottom, start
to gently push the screen at the top (get a mate to stand outside the car to
steady the screen) when it's lifted a little way you should be able to lift
it out of the rubber. be warned though, if the screen is at all dodgy (de
laminating or stone chipped) it may crack. not likely, but can happen.

to refit, push the rubber onto the glass, then sit the bottom edge into the
lip. carefully work the rubber back on with a screwdriver while a mate
gently presses on the outside (to quote mr haynes - "refitting is the
reverse of removal")

take your time and work slowly, you shouldn't have a problem :-)

On a 1988 Mk2 Golf. I've finished touching up my replacement tailgate
and need to transfer the good window from the rusty one. There is no
procedure in Haynes. How do I do this?

forgot to say - if there is a plastic or chrome trim on the rubber, you will
need to carefully prise this off before you start
