It comes on - flashes once then stays on.

Don't no weather the fault is the drivers seat or the passengers - think
with this one I may have to bit the bullet and take it to the dealers

Thanks
Martin

Steve,

The airbag light is flashing just once (should flash 6times I think) to

let
you no the passenger airbag is turned off.

Had a look under the seats I can't see any wires etc...

Any Ideas?

Sorry, can't help with that.

My handbook says the light should flash for 12 seconds if the passenger
airbag is switched off.

What exactly is yours doing?

Look for a local VW specialist rather than main dealer - 99% of
independent specialists will have VAG-COM so can get the fault code from
the ECU and clear it for you. It'll be a lot cheaper, and they're often
better than the main dealers, too.

My experiance afew weeks ago

***********************************

Took the car to the different dealer and they confirmed that my repair did
repair the fault.

The dealer recommend that I have the connector replaced, I decided to go
with their recommendation.

Cost less than £100 better than my local dealer that quoted £380 to replace
a unbroken seat airbag.....

Thanks for ALL your comments.

Today (Saturday), I checked the cabling under the seat. When looking I saw
that one of the three wires were broken on the only connecter under the
seat.

After unclipping the cable from the underside of the seat, I disconnected
the connecter and soldered the broken cable back in place.

I still have the warning fault, but I guess that the fault needs clearing
from the car's computer.

I'm going to take the Golf to a different dealer to clear the fault and if
necessary re-diagnose the fault. I took the Golf to my local dealer twice
to have a look at the fault, they so should have noticed the broken wire.

My 2000 Golf GTI needs the drivers seat airbag replacing. Its booked in
to be replaced and was quoted £380.

Does anyone know if £380 is a fair price to pay for the work involved
(supply airbag and up to two hours labour)?

Regards

Kelvin

Steve ordered http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_GDVAG.html so in future I can
at least clear the codes myself.

For the air bag to be turned on again is only £26 + vat at the dealership
that turned it off when the last owner had it so not to bad. And they
cleared the fault code and all is now well again :-)

Thanks for all the help

Greatly appreciated

Martin
